What do Elks, Faith and Certainty have in common?

Jenny Heston · 1:40 am ·

Bugling-ElkSo a funny story to remind you to have Faith and Certainty in what you are doing and who you are.

I go into the mountains and the woods each morning to run the dogs and it nourishes me (and it is always off the beaten path). So this morning bright and early I grab a friend and we go off.  When we walk we share our challenges and our celebrations, so she was talking about her work, why was she doing it etc. As she’s talking I hear a massive rustle in the shrubbery and think it is some of the dogs, so don’t really pay attention.

The noise gets louder so I look up and I see a massive (yes honest, this isn’t a fishing story) bull elk, with a huge rack on his head charging at us. Well holy hannah! Talk about frozen, then a bizarre nano second of – where is my camera, to “we need to throw ourselves down this rocky bank and hide behind that big tree now!”

All of the labs were totally oblivious to what was happening, but the minute my friend screamed as I grabbed her to throw her down the bank – lol (not too sure if it was me throwing her down the bank or the elk she was screaming at) my Akbash (Turkish Mountain Dog) whose nature is the protector and the guardian whipped around, spotted this 1200lbs of flesh hurtling at us and he was like the Flash – white fluid motion hurtling towards this thing. The elk obviously saw and did a majestic veer and Legolas (that’s the dog) hurtled after him. 1.5 hours later the dog came back looking very tired.

Then the interesting thing was as we continued (yes of course we had to keep going) up the mountain I started saying how yesterday I had been having a pity party of “Who am I to move my business this way?” “There are tons of people with more experience” – blah, blah, frigging blah. Then I realised that I had treated Faith like a handbag yesterday – I had put it down and couldn’t remember where I had put it. So I scrabbled around for a bit and found my handbag of Faith and tucked it under my arm to remind me to have faith in me, faith in my gifts, faith in the universe, higher power, divine, fairies – you name it.

So when I got home after the gorgeous adrenaline rushing exploration this morning I grabbed my Animal Speak book to look up Elk. The message for Elk is one of Nobility and Strength as Elk can run for extended periods of time and that is how they outrun their predators. So the message was you are about to hit your stride, strength and don’t give up as it is right there. also Elk are not a solitary animal, they function best in community of their own kind, which I love – Interesting…….

So today as I pondered Certainty and heard – Your function, your purpose is to live a life that’s not of littleness, but one of magnitude. It made me smile. Then the quote from Course In Miracles – If you knew who walks beside you on the way you have chosen, FEAR would be impossible.

It reminded me to keep my handbag of faith nearby and just keep in my stride.

Is Your Faith a Handbag?

Jenny Heston · 1:13 am ·

What do you have Faith in?  Purple handbag

Do you have faith the sun will rise tomorrow?

Do you have faith in someone else’s belief of you?

Do you have faith in who others say you should be?

Do you have faith in yourself?

I ask that question as the other day I was thinking about “What do I have faith in?”  I have faith in my kids, my family, myself, in love.  I have faith in a higher power, that this is a glorious, abundant amazing Universe.  I have faith in my body to scramble up and down the sides of a mountain, all sorts of things.

Yet on that day as I was asking myself that question I was doubting myself, allowing other people’s opinions to push my own out, doubts, fear and negative self talk were creeping in and I was feeling blaugh.  It was one of those heavy energy, darkish days – not fun at all.  Then I realised that I had “misplaced” my faith.  Kind of like putting down my handbag and forgetting where I had put it!

Now I don’t know about you but in my handbag is fairly much everything I need for the day; snacks, water, my wallet, ID, drivers licence, lip balm, truck keys and I am sure month old cough drops that are furry!  But none the less these things are important and when I leave the house or the office the bag is with me and I know I am covered and it makes life easier.  So when I forget where I have hung it up or placed it, there is a sense of panic – actually not a sense of panic but a huge frigging “Oh My Gosh, where the fuck is it!!” kind of panic.  Hands get sweaty, visions of identity theft, or huge credit card bills come flooding in, let alone how am I meant to keep my lips moisturised!

Nine times out of ten it is exactly where I left it, I just forgot and upon finding it there is a sigh of relief, a dropping of the shoulders and a sense of “phew, all is right with the world.”

So the other day when fear and doubt were creeping in I realised I couldn’t find my faith in quite a few things that I believe in, including myself.  There was that sense of panic, a sense of dis-ease, a feeling of “Holy Hannah what on earth is going on and what am I meant to do?”  Yes the palms got sweaty, the shoulders rocketed up and were battling with my earrings and all in all it was supremely uncomfortable.  Thus, I got up and went outside, looked at my feet on the earth, found the gorgeous spring flowers that are slowly pushing up their bobbly heads and took a moment to breathe, to breathe in trust, to breathe in faith, to just breathe and calm my mind and find my center.

Ever so slowly I could feel my shoulders creeping down and by the time I walked back inside it was if I could see my gorgeous handbag of faith sitting on the chair where I must have left it, and just forgot. The flooding of calm, reconnection, a sense of all is right with the world again was delicious.  So, I think I am going to work with the image of a handbag and my faith bag is a gorgeous red and purple one, with pockets to hold all I love, zippers to keep things safe, a strong shoulder strap so I can take it anywhere with me – and perhaps a GPS locator device in case I forget.

So what colour is your faith bag?

Weekly Reading for February 29th – Leap Day!

Jenny Heston · 2:08 am ·

It is the gorgeous leap day!  An extra day in the year.

So I invite you to take a moment and just stop what you are doing, breathe deep into your belly – exhale with a sigh.  Relax your jaw, feel your spine lengthen as you breathe.  Look at the cards and then gently close your eyes, take another gorgeous belly breathe and as you exhale ask yourself what you need to hear right now, what guidance is there for you.  Trust you, trust your intuition and pick a card.

February 29 Reading

You’ve picked?  Good.  Now let’s see what the gorgeous message is for you today to guide you for the week.  The stones above the cards are Tiger’s Eye, Aventurine and Red Jasper.   Ready?  So here we go, I love how this reading came out it is like a delicious story from creation through manifestation to receiving.  February 29 Reveal

 DREAM A BEAUTIFUL DREAM

The urge to create is the same within you as it is for the universal creator.  It also has the same magical ability to draw harmony into being to to find beautiful order in chaos.  This includes bringing harmony and the perfect balance of wellbeing into your body, mind and emotions.  If you feel blocked, thwarted or contaminated by others in your quest to bring your beautiful dreams to life, you may feel that your heart is dulled, minimised or shut down.  Give yourself permission to feel and be beautiful in many ways.  There is a situation in your life right now where you feel uncertain about your ability to “fix” or heal.  You may feel inhibited in your ability to bring about constructive change.  However, the perfect beauty of this situation is not revealed by what you attempt to do to it, or by trying to impose on it.  There is a beauty in it and by that revelation it is healed and perfected.  In opening up to the beauty within yourself and your circumstances, you open up to change.  You can overcome resistance and denial by approaching it with a curious mind, an open heart and acknowledging the hidden beauty.  You have the power to be a positive influence in whatever situation holds the most meaning for you right now, and you need to know that.

BRING IT INTO FORM

Beautiful dreamer, you can imagine wonderful worlds of light.  You Can dream up so many possibilities.  Now it is time to bring those possibilities of light into the world.  They need to be more than ideas.  They need to live, to manifest.  The world needs not only your dreams, beautiful as they are, but also your creations.  Get thee to thy desk!  Thy easel! Thy computer!  Create!

You are being asked to honour yourself with a commitment to complete your inspired tasks.  This will help you to grow and that is a wonderful reason to commit.  This oracle confirms that the information you need to translate your ideas into form will be provided according to the higher wisdom of life.  It may or may not happen by traditional routes.  Even if it seems unimaginable, when it is time for something to be born into form, nothing can stop it.  It will happen!

RECEIVING

You are so loved.  Your every need is witnessed and responded to by the universe.  However, you sometimes forget this.  You become swept up in the momentum of habitual consciousness, and you forget to take a moment to stop, breathe and be.  In that moment you can receive the love of the universe that is receiving you.  It will nourish you with contentment and energy.  You haven’t done this enough, so your soul is becoming parched and is drying out.  Do you know how much joy the universe gains from being able to give to you?  When you delight in what you receive there is joyful communion between you and life, energy flows more freely and magic happens.  An exquisite life experience is your birthright.  Enjoy it!  Soak it up.  All of it.

Weekly Reading for February 22, 2016

Jenny Heston · 9:49 pm ·

We are going to use this gorgeous oracle deck called – Sacred Rebels – by Alana Fairchild.

Thus, on this day of the Full Moon, gently close your eyes, take a deep breath, ask for guidance, trust your intuition and pick a card.

Weekly reading February 22 2016

Have you picked?

Then let’s have a look.

Weekly reading reveal February 22 2016

1 – SEEING THE TRUE YOU

Sometimes we believe what others tell us we are, as though the self we see reflected back to us through their eyes is truth.  You have been putting rather too much faith in the reflections others have of you – to the point that you might not be honouring all that you are and all that you are becoming, because you believe too little of yourself.  If you are getting confused about who you are and your motives or actions based on what others are saying or how they are responding, step back.  Let those external perceptions go.  Can you just acknowledge yourself?  Do so and be free!

2. – RECEIVING

Enjoy it!  Soak it up.  All of it.

3.- VISIONS OF LIFE BEYOND DEATH

Sacred vision is awakening with in you.  You re becoming blessed with the ability to truly see.  To see what is real rather than what appears to be.  This is true insight.  If you have been wondering about your life path or whether you should take action on a project or you need inspiration to really move you out of a slump you have fallen into, then this oracle brings you a message of hope.  You will receive your vision.  You are leaving behind a smaller view for a more expansive one.  You are watched over in life and held in protection.  Shift your perspective and look at an issue of concern a little differently.  Your ability to be inspired and see the light in all things is unfolding.  It must be nourished in your heart with loving acceptance because you are going to help others through your vision, your art and how you choose to be in the world.

My business is a dog!

Jenny Heston · 5:14 am ·

Happy dogsWhat do dogs and business have in common?  (Stick with me – it does make sense)

Okay, who here is a dog lover?  I have 3 large dogs that I adore (some days more than my kids – but don’t tell the kids that),  I take them up mountains, or down to the lake to play at least twice a day, and I laugh at their passion, enthusiasm and also the fact that they love frozen goose poo!  (I call them goosesicles).  My dogs get attention, I take them into the office with me, feed them well, get them big yummy bones and give them HUGE love.  They know I am there for them and they are loved.  They also know they are separate from me and I don’t view them as extensions of myself, I can just revel in them being their own quirky personalities and not taking stuff they do (such as humping other dogs on a walk) personally. A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotla A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotland. 🖕😂

We’re done with power over people, power over women, power over the planet. We’re here for matriarchal ways rooted in care, respect, shared power and community. And we’re a wee bit tired of being told how to behave, how to look and how to be women in this world!! So here’s our sisterly response… with love, laughter and a little Scottish sass! 😉

A wee note: We’re a group of Canadian sisters and one beautiful U.S. sister exploring Scotland together. Some of us have Scottish roots, and all of us brought a little wyld spirit! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. What are you ready to release? 🍂

Sitting in a glorious pile of leaves, I pulled October’s card: Unfurl the Wings of Forgiveness.

Accountability and compassion. The courage to own your part, the tenderness to forgive yourself, and boundaries that honour both.

There’s autumn magick in this invitation—and a little delicious mischief, too.

It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The harder question is: who are you when it’s just you and the boys?

When the joke crosses the line.
When the group chat turns ugly.
When a woman is being degraded.
When you know something is wrong.

Do you speak up, even if it costs you your place in the group?

Because women cannot be in every room asking men to respect us.

Men have to demand it from each other.

So I’m asking men: when was the last time you called out another man?

Don’t just teach your sons not to hurt women. Teach them not to stand silently beside men who do.
Summer is letting go. 🍂 Can you feel it? The lig Summer is letting go. 🍂

The light has changed. The evenings are arriving earlier. Leaves are turning, birds are gathering and Nature is beginning that slow, delicious turn inward.

Then on September 26th comes the Harvest Full Moon. 🌕

And maybe she’s not asking:

What’s next?

Maybe she’s asking:

What is already ripe?

What has quietly grown in you this season?

What are you ready to gather?

And what might you finally be ready to let fall?

I’ve written a new Harvest Moon piece through my Seasonal Lens, with journal prompts and one of my favourite slightly ridiculous rituals.

It involves bubbles.

Of course it bloody does. 😂🫧

Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I to Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I took a leap and received a “channelled” tattoo.

Was I sceptical? Abso-frigging-lutely. I wouldn’t even see the design until two hours before my appointment.

Then the image arrived—and I fell completely in love.

An apple, lavender, chamomile, rosemary, hare’s-foot fern and glorious Amanita mushrooms, all woven together beneath the stars and the sweep of the Milky Way.

Every piece holds meaning. Together, they form a tiny wild universe—a botanical talisman of nature, healing, memory, resilience, cosmic wonder and a wee bit of Fae mischief.

And now it rests above my heart, exactly where it belongs.

@inkspired_.tattoo.studio , you are an extraordinary human. This was so much more than a tattoo—it was a soulful, intentional experience and the perfect birthday gift.

A little wild.
A little witchy.
A little cosmic.
A little Fae.
And entirely me. 🍎🌿🍄✨
