Gratitude and value will improve your money…..

Jenny Heston · 2:28 am ·

GratitudeI am a huge proponent of Gratitude – every night I write 10 things that I am grateful for that day.  When I reflect back on what I have written, the majority of them are about other people – kids, family, situations and events that I have participated in with friends, outside things such as my home, my garden, not so much about ME.

Have you ever taken time to really, REALLY appreciate how frigging amazing you are?  How valued you are?  Or do you define your value based on what others think?

As humans we often base our perceptions of ourselves on what others think, your friend said you were good at baking – so you value that.  Your 5th grade teacher told you you were great at Math, so you focused on Math.  A choir leader told you that your voice was grating, so now you don’t sing.  Your boss told you you were inept but you weren’t.

Who defines your value?

I have a fun exercise that I invite you to try daily.  The School of Positive Psychology says – a habit is created in 21 days.  So let’s create a habit that really supports you and allows you to relax into how amazing and wonderful you are and how bright your light shines and how your light impacts people whether you realise it or not.  Watch what happens…..

So here we go, either first thing in the morning or as you are heading to bed, write down 3 things – that’s it, just 3 things that you value about YOURSELF.

Don’t be vague and ambiguous.  An example being – “I’m healthy.”  Cool, that is great, but does it stir an emotion in you?  What does healthy feel like and look like for you?  How about something a tad more specific such as:- “I am strong, flexible and healthy; my legs are toned and my arms are strong.”  Does that evoke a more emotional response?

Here’s the challenge.   Can you write 3 things a day for 21 days that you VALUE ABOUT YOURSELF?  If you have always over committed, said yes to everything and put other people’s needs first all the time this will be a delicious challenge for YOU.

There is a caveat.  There is no repeating.  In other words, if you have written 3 things you can’t repeat them.  You need to dig and explore and like an Archaeologist find more things that you value about YOU.  Trust me; you are an untapped mine and you will be able to go for years, let alone 21 days.

If you are game and do this process watch what happens.  In the past when someone complimented you did you brush it off and dismiss it with a “Yeah whatever, anyone could do this.”  You go out to breakfast with a friend who pays the tab.  In the past you may have had a debate about who is going to pay.  As you didn’t value yourself and weren’t open to receiving.

All I can say is STOP!  You as a person, a human a being on this planet and part of the mixed community are important and valued.  Take a deep breath and when that compliment comes – smile and receive it.  When your friend offers to buy you breakie, grin with a full tummy and say “Thank you”.

If you really, truly value yourself you are open to receiving.

So let go of any control issues, sit back in a comfy chair, grab something to write on/with and really start appreciating YOU.  This isn’t selfish or narcissistic.  It’s a case of you being the tenacious archaeologist and discovering how delightful, delicious you are and the gift that you are right here, right now.

BREATHE AND REVEL.

Do you rent out your mind?

Jenny Heston · 2:10 am ·

For RentNow I know that may sound a tad odd, very much like some weird sci-fi movie, or that a succubus snuck into your bedroom whilst you were sleeping, however, neither are the case.  Caroline Myss uses a fabulous analogy of looking at your daily energy in a monetary way.  You have $100.00 of energy on a daily basis.  So let’s examine it.

The alarm goes off, you slowly pry your eyes open and the day begins.  You know for a fact you have $100 worth of energy to invest in your day, your present, your future and all those things you want to create.  As you stumble to the shower you remember the negative comment your partner said the night before and you dwell on it as you soap up and wash your hair, gone is $10.  You now have $90 to invest in you, your dreams your goals, your DESIRES!  All those wonderful things that make your heart sing, your soul soar and make you feel grateful you are alive and living the life you have. Cutting the ties that bind.

Jenny Heston · 1:06 am ·

Tapestry threadsDo you ever think of your life as a gorgeous tapestry where are all the various threads of your different relationships are woven together to create an amazing picture that you revel in?  I do.

Another way I look at it is one of those deep piled, soft, richly coloured, warm, plush blankets.  Each person in my life has a colour distinctive to them and they wend and wind throughout my blanket.  Sometimes those threads overlap others and are dominant in an area, in other areas of the blanket they aren’t as present, and instead there is a different colour.  However, it is the combination of all those relationship threads that make such a sumptuous blanket that you know at any time you can wrap yourself up in it and just revel and absorb the energy and feel totally safe, loved and appreciated. Can you honk like a goose?

Jenny Heston · 12:54 am ·

Geese In FormationHave you ever tried to honk like a goose?  I have, often.   Especially now in the fall as the “V’s” of Canada Geese fly overhead honking away as they vanish off into the horizon or slow down to land on the lake first thing in the morning.  It’s quite amazing to watch, huge “V’s” of geese all in formation, honking away, none are colliding, you don’t see one veer off on their own tangent and they all gently settle with a delicious “splush” amongst the mist rising off the lake. House With No Joy

Jenny Heston · 4:47 pm ·

The breeze was gently undulating his way through the day, tickling the autumn leaves as they hung on the trees, picking up their fallen friends and gently lifting them up in the air to move them a few inches and place them back down. The sun was out and it was a glorious colourful Indian summer day in October. As the breeze moved along he saw a house where the front door hadn’t closed over properly and decided to go explore as this was a house where the doors were normally locked, the windows closed and covered with slatted blinds to limit the visibility from the outside. It was an ordinary looking house, nothing special, but the gardens were vibrant and filled with a multitude of coloured flowers and climbing roses. The breeze liked entering human homes as he was always amazed by the smells he could pick up and waft about, the energy, the laughter and the noise, the colours and the busyness. He liked the houses where the windows were wide open and he could dart in and lift up piles of paper and waft a humans hair. So far nobody had really minded, especially on a hot day, as he often brought a gift of the scent of the ocean and a cooling presence.

As the breeze entered this house he wondered if anyone lived there, it was so quiet, not the safe quiet of humans sleeping in fact more like a silence. There were no voices chatting, there was no reverberance of energy inside the walls and no small humans rushing around creating chaos and laughter, it felt strange. As he flowed into the living room he could see everything in its place, the papers were in a neat pile, the ornaments had a feel of look only, don’t touch, there were no dishes or cups lying around and the kitchen looked as if it wasn’t used for creating meals it was too tidy. Maybe whoever lives here is away?  The air felt stale and stagnant, with an ennui of sorrow and pain that overlaid. As the breeze moved up the hallway he realized there were humans here, 3 of them – all women. One was doing the laundry, one was on the phone and one was doing a meditation. This is most odd he felt, there are humans here and you wouldn’t know it. The breeze chose to linger and observe in an attempt to understand.  He ended up lingering for a few days and when he left he felt less than and drained. He couldn’t play with the leaves for a while and found himself just wanting to swirl in the same spot and to be quiet, so very quiet.

The breeze watched, there were no celebrations and when they were suggested by the younger two women they were greeted with a mocking smile, a raised eyebrow and a dismissal. He watched one of them who pumped Prana in a joyful, powerful way fold in on herself, she hardly sang anymore and the silence and negativity were draining and crushing her. When she tried to talk to the older one the conversation would go around and around and it was always her fault.  He watched the other be continually greeted with a smile, but beneath that smile was a space of negation and again the conversations went round and round, he watched as her sadness rose and the despair becoming overwhelming. So the silence became one of oppression and moved through the house compressing everything around.  Be silent!

He watched as the younger two women would get up early, before the sun rose and leave the house, taking the dog with them and go walk and chat like chirping birds and as they laughed and explored their souls soared and they became more like who they were. But those were brief moments in the day. He watched as help was continually offered and dismissed by the older woman whose home it was. He watched as the invitations to join in activities, the entreaties to come do things were offered up and pushed to the side as they were uninteresting. He watched gorgeous food being created with music playing, the music had to be turned off and the meal was eaten in Silence. The only time there was noise in the house was when the TV was played at such a level that as he swirled out of the open sliding door he could hear it outside. Lights were turned off even when someone was in that room. Everything was controlled either by silence, dismissiveness, manipulation, anger, or demeaning. Games were offered and as they were played jealousy and snide comments would happen – so the youngest would walk away. Why?  Why was it like this? That question was asked and reverberated from the walls by the younger two, but the only answer was one of shame, blame and silence. The cries and questions were released and floated out onto the breeze.

The breeze watched and finally he had to leave as there was no Joy here, no gratitude, no acceptance and no compromise. It was rigid, cold and silent.

A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotla A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotland. 🖕😂

We’re done with power over people, power over women, power over the planet. We’re here for matriarchal ways rooted in care, respect, shared power and community. And we’re a wee bit tired of being told how to behave, how to look and how to be women in this world!! So here’s our sisterly response… with love, laughter and a little Scottish sass! 😉

A wee note: We’re a group of Canadian sisters and one beautiful U.S. sister exploring Scotland together. Some of us have Scottish roots, and all of us brought a little wyld spirit! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. What are you ready to release? 🍂

Sitting in a glorious pile of leaves, I pulled October’s card: Unfurl the Wings of Forgiveness.

Accountability and compassion. The courage to own your part, the tenderness to forgive yourself, and boundaries that honour both.

There’s autumn magick in this invitation—and a little delicious mischief, too.

It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The harder question is: who are you when it’s just you and the boys?

When the joke crosses the line.
When the group chat turns ugly.
When a woman is being degraded.
When you know something is wrong.

Do you speak up, even if it costs you your place in the group?

Because women cannot be in every room asking men to respect us.

Men have to demand it from each other.

So I’m asking men: when was the last time you called out another man?

Don’t just teach your sons not to hurt women. Teach them not to stand silently beside men who do.
Summer is letting go. 🍂 Can you feel it? The lig Summer is letting go. 🍂

Can you feel it?

The light has changed. The evenings are arriving earlier. Leaves are turning, birds are gathering and Nature is beginning that slow, delicious turn inward.

Then on September 26th comes the Harvest Full Moon. 🌕

And maybe she’s not asking:

What’s next?

Maybe she’s asking:

What is already ripe?

What has quietly grown in you this season?

What are you ready to gather?

And what might you finally be ready to let fall?

I’ve written a new Harvest Moon piece through my Seasonal Lens, with journal prompts and one of my favourite slightly ridiculous rituals.

It involves bubbles.

Of course it bloody does. 😂🫧

🍂 Tomorrow, the Wheel turns. For one delicious mo 🍂 Tomorrow, the Wheel turns.

For one delicious moment, we stand at the threshold between seasons.

Before rushing into autumn, what if you stopped long enough to look back?

At the summer you actually lived.
At what surprised you.
What challenged you.
What delighted you.
What quietly grew while you were busy doing other things.

You don’t need a perfect harvest.

You only need to recognise what is already in your hands.

🍂 What grew in you while you were busy living? Th 🍂 What grew in you while you were busy living?

That’s the question sitting at the heart of Mabon: The Gathering.

Not what did you accomplish?

Not did summer go according to plan?

But what grew?

A boundary?
A truth?
Some courage?
A delicious bit of weirdness?
Maybe something you didn’t even realise was a harvest until now.

I created a 24-page Mabon journey filled with reflection, journalling, ritual, harvest magick and a five-card Tarot/Oracle spread.

Because before we charge into the next season…

perhaps we should notice who arrived here. 🍎

Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I to Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I took a leap and received a “channelled” tattoo.

Was I sceptical? Abso-frigging-lutely. I wouldn’t even see the design until two hours before my appointment.

Then the image arrived—and I fell completely in love.

An apple, lavender, chamomile, rosemary, hare’s-foot fern and glorious Amanita mushrooms, all woven together beneath the stars and the sweep of the Milky Way.

Every piece holds meaning. Together, they form a tiny wild universe—a botanical talisman of nature, healing, memory, resilience, cosmic wonder and a wee bit of Fae mischief.

And now it rests above my heart, exactly where it belongs.

@inkspired_.tattoo.studio , you are an extraordinary human. This was so much more than a tattoo—it was a soulful, intentional experience and the perfect birthday gift.

A little wild.
A little witchy.
A little cosmic.
A little Fae.
And entirely me. 🍎🌿🍄✨
