What’s Your Legacy Going to BE? – Weekly Reading January 22nd

Jenny Heston · 2:00 pm ·

Hello gorgeous one, how has your week been? Ā Did you carve out a little time last Tuesday to make your New Moon wishes? Ā I hope so. Ā We have been fluctuating between huge snowfalls to the milder temperatures and rain, to then huge snowfalls – sigh…. Ā So things are either squishy and sloppy or icy as heck – whoo, hoo (makes every day quite unique).Ā  Also makes it tricky to dress for the day – do I need an umbrella and rain boots or a Parka and snow boots – or even possibly spiky things that go on my boots?

On the weekend I went to a memorial service for a friend and peer, he had passed at 48 years old after battling brain cancer for the last 6 months. Ā He left behind brothers, parents, a lovely wife and 3 amazing kids. Ā He was a kind, generous, man filled with integrity and a passion for soccer and his family – so why, why him? Ā There is no answer to that question or one that soothes the frustration, grief and sadness. Ā However, as I listened to all the stories that were shared at the memorial service the word Legacy kept coming up. Ā

The stories were poignant, funny, loving and wonderful to hear but the common thread was this man lived with such purpose, connection and passion in a way that was inclusive and caring. Ā Legacy. Ā Helped grow and expand our soccer association so that kids of all ages and adults could play year round. Ā Legacy. Ā He was an amazing father to his kids. Ā Legacy. Ā A caring and thoughtful son and husband. Ā Legacy. Ā Even in his last days he was still interested in how others were and what was happening in their lives. Ā Legacy. Ā

So after the service I came home and sat and reflected for a while on the word Legacy. Ā What is the legacy that I would like to leave behind? Ā For me it isn’t about ā€œstuffā€ so much as ā€œDid I live, did I love, did I matter, did I help and did I make a differenceā€. Ā So often we postpone what we want to do to another day because we don’t feel ready, or we don’t share our gifts because of fear, or we don’t grab that opportunity because of feelings of worth. Ā If you think about that – how daft is that? Ā Every morning that you open your eyes and can put your feet on the earth can be an amazing day, it’s all a choice, an intentional choice. Ā It goes all the way from the smallest act to the largest display. Ā Think of it like the pebble being dropped into a pond and the ripples that come out from it. Ā For example, you stop and talk to the homeless chap who is bundled up in blankets in a doorway and you see him as a person and he shares with you how touched he was that you ā€œsawā€ him as he had been feeling so invisible he was contemplating suicide. Ā Your friend is sick in bed and you pop over with some nice home made soup and check in on them. You see an empty parking meter and the by-law guy approaching so you drop a quarter in it. Ā Ā You’re in an abusive marriage and your children continually witness you capitulating and finally you say enough is enough, pack up your stuff and take them somewhere safe, calm and kind and they get to witness you standing up for yourself and for them. Ā I know these all may sound odd to you – but all things matter. Ā So let me ask – how do you want to live your life and what is the Legacy you would like to leave behind? Ā Whatever it is, start it now, do it now, be it now! Ā

Okay, I shall get down off my soapbox now. Ā The cards that flew out and at me this week Ā are The Sacred Rebels Oracle which I thought highly appropriate as this oracle is dedicated to those who aren’t afraid to rattle cages, ruffle feathers and rock boats, from a place of loving service to the spiritual evolution of humanity. Ā The crystals that wiggled and jiggled and demanded to be included are Smoky Quartz (grounding, cleansing and healing), Amethyst (protection, abundance, wisdom and healing) and Citrine (personal power, creativity and manifestation). Ā

So take a moment and just BE, breathe and BE. Ā Wiggle your toes and gently place your hands on your heart and breathe into this space long and deep, in through your nose and out through your mouth like a sigh. Ā If you want, there is a lovely guided visualisation to help you just centre and BE, and tap into the Joy. Ā

Ready to go pick now?

Let’s go have a look see shall we?

SHOCK OF THE NEW

What wild unconventional voice is calling to you? Ā Can you hear it? Ā It is so different so unusual, it might be hard to decipher – like hearing an unfamiliar language for the first time. Ā It might be hard to discern with great clarity now but there is an affinity between you and this strangely beautiful newness seeking to manifest.

There is a stirring at the deepest level within you. Ā Something new will break through and the process of this birth may be a shock to you. Ā The shock will transform into great joy and a sense of tremendous liberation, but you must bear the strangeness first. Ā That strangeness might be something that rattles your beliefs about yourself and your world, daring you to become more of yourself, more open to where life is leading you and more willing to be the unique sacred art being crafted by the hand of the universal creator. Ā

Nature never shies away from strange beauty.Ā  She allows for endless diversity and her sacred works are often peculiar and stunning.Ā  You live within her field of creative grace, as a specially created work that also creates!Ā  You are being asked to surrender any fear you may have of being seen as exotic, unusual, eccentric or bizarre.Ā  You are being asked to make peace with strange beauty and to let it happen through you in creative flow.Ā  There are rumblings and stirrings of the creative life force life happening now – deep in the undercurrents of your being.Ā  So be on the lookout for the big shift of new birth, the shock of the new, the unconventional, the strangely beautiful and the disturbing liberation of that which is foreign stepping into your life.

This is life creating the stage upon which you will experience greater fulfillment. Ā Don’t reject it, no matter how small or insignificant, or how powerful and life-changing it may seem to be. Ā You are being asked to dispense with your reliance on the past and what have been your tools to navigate life. Ā You have outgrown your old methods. You will have to fly by the seat of your pants, so to speak, as you experiment with new ways to be. Ā Life will show you the way.

DEFEND TO THE END THE WORTHWHILE

Beneath the lies and illusions, pretty as they seem, you know what is worthwhile. Ā All that is genuinely and truly essential for the heart to throb with life is worthwhile. Ā Anything that dulls it or suffocates its vibrant aliveness, must be questioned, challenged, and more than likely cast aside, for the heart is our key to living an authentic life.Ā  What is there once that is compromised?Ā  Without its foundation of truth, we are to be forever lost in confusion, doubt and despair!

You are a sacred warrior – a defender of the heart. Ā You have cried genuine tears of your own grief and also the grief of the world. Ā You have felt the need to protect the presence of love, for whilst it is exceptionally powerful, it can too easily be smothered under lies and fear.Ā Ā The sacred warrior is vigilant that the presence of love is not chipped away by fear, criticism, doubt or untruths.Ā  Even if others find the unflinching honesty of your feelings difficult to handle, even if those feelings are expressed with gentleness and compassion, the sacred warrior honours the task of being more faithful to love, than to anything else.Ā Ā

The darkness will be intelligent and sneaky. Ā It will tell you that it doesn’t matter, that this one time you can forget what you promised, that you are just one person and that you can’t make Ā difference.Ā  That darkness will lure you into sleepy ambivalence and dull your light, if you allow it to.Ā  The sacred warrior within will fight with love and honour to be true to what has meaning, and never, ever allow it to be cast aside – even if it seems easier in the moment. Ā You’re being asked to stay strong and stand your ground. Ā What is happening, or soon will be happening is worthwhile. Ā So hold tight. Ā Ask for help to heal.

FOCUS ON THE LIGHT

A tremendous force of light is gathering around you. Ā It is attracted to the purity of your intention to create from your heart. Ā As your intention grows, so does the light. Ā As the light grows, so does your intention. Ā Magic wants to happen for you now! Ā The synchronicity, perfect timing, opportunities and information that are needed will seem to be drawn right to your door. Ā You may start to feel as if you cannot walk outside without stumbling into something helpful, wonderful and inspiring. Ā

You might be startled as this interplay of light with your heart evokes many new successes and attracts an abundance of opportunities your way.Ā  You may need to adjust as the field of light grows stronger and its effect becomes more palpable.Ā  It may bring rather dramatic improvements into your world.Ā  You may be uncomfortable or feel out of your depth with these changes.Ā  This would be understandable, but it would be a shame for you to hold on to that resistance for anything more than a brief moment.Ā  Any resistance or fear will inhibit the continuing free flow of the light so that is can manifest its beauty through you, in the physical world, where it is needed.

It is best to stay focused on your heart and intentions. Ā Just allow all else to happen of its own accord, without making it mean anything too personal. Ā Simply let it be the workings of the great light of love, flowing through a Ā pure heart and touching the world. Ā Even if the light that is drawn to you and flows through you has some dazzling effects, you don’t have to get caught up in it. Ā

Don’t be distracted by other paths around you at this time as you are too close to succeeding on the one you are on now! Ā Diluting your energies, in the pursuit of too much will slow down your success and the world needs your light to shine sooner rather than later! Ā In time you may diversify and explore other ways to express yourself but for now, build what you are working on and know that success is coming swiftly. Ā

Yummers!Ā  Love how the cards in essence told a story and each card can stand alone.Ā  First it was about embracing and welcoming in the new, the “odd to you, but great for you” – then it was about the feeling state and defending it, last but not least if you are willing to do the others then you need to focus on the light and trust and be willing.Ā  Ahhhh, willing is just a delightfully challenging word sometimes.Ā  So gorgeous one, I wish you a stupendous week filled with the clothes you need for the weather, great friends and glorious adventures – if you’re willing to see them as such.Ā  Start creating your Legacy!Ā  As always, I thoroughly love your emails and comments and I thank you for those.Ā Ā

Huge hugs.

It’s New Moon in Capricorn tomorrow! (I love New Moons) – Weekly Reading January 15th.

Jenny Heston · 1:00 pm ·

Happy Marvelous, Magical, Magnificent Monday! Ā How are you? Ā How has your week been? Have you decided what your Word of The Year is going to be.Ā  It has snowed, and snowed here for the last week, so my way of dealing with winter is to dose up on D3 and get outside and play – which ties in with my WOTY – Delight.Ā  Ā So I had a glorious weekend of play, lots of skiing between the trees and alongside a river (which was deliciously magickal), sledding with the kids and hounds. Ā Albeit I found out that my Akbash feels he needs to try and rescue me when I am whipping down a steep slope on my flying saucer by trying to grab onto me, or throw himself in front of me. Ā It made for some interesting adventures!!

Yesterday I felt that a good cleaning of my home and an energetic cleanse had to happen. Ā So I cranked up the music and went to work. Ā I did the windows, had a little dance break, bopped around as I did all the laundry, then pretended to be a fairy as I dusted, vacuumed and searched out lurking dust bunnies that were trying to hide in the corners. Ā I decided to lovingly polish all the wood furniture. Ā As I was gently rubbing oil into my dining room table that I inherited from my parents, and it’s about 65 years old, I had a massive flashback to when I was little. Ā Every Sunday one of my chores was to polish the same table and I loved making it gleam and I would scramble around underneath it to make sure all the legs were polished and shiny. Ā So funny to see how that ritual has stayed with me as an adult (although I don’t tend to hide under the table anymore). Ā When everything was all cleaned, sorted and glowing I then smudged the whole house setting new intentions for the energy of our home, trust me it makes a huge difference and with New Moon in Capricorn happening on Tuesday, it seemed like the most natural thing to do as New Moon is a glorious time to plant the seeds of something and to set intention. Ā

At the time of this New Moon, there will be a lineup of the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto all in the sign of Capricorn. This rare alignment is known as a stellium. Ā Having a line up of so many planets indicates that this New Moon is going to bring a lot of earthy Capricorn energy for all of us to play with.

This is the perfect time to take action in your life and begin making small, practical changes in order to bring more joy, abundance, love, success, and whatever other ways of being you would like to have more of in your life. Ā While this is a great time to take action and express yourself outwards, there is also this energy pulling us to go deeper within ourselves and to really connect to that heart center.

The good thing about this Capricorn New Moon is that it has a lot of energy, which means that you can use this energy to serve you in any way that you need. Ā Tune in to yourself and ask- Ā ā€œWhat is something I could use support with? What would I like this New Moon to bring into my life?ā€

Then set your intentions, plant your seeds for the future and what you want to grow and flourish Ā in your garden and then give your wishes up to the night sky. Ā

Thus, with all that being said let’s get on with this weeks reading. Ā Now normally when I do these readings one deck bounces around calling loudly to be used. Ā This week there were 3 decks and none of them were willing to back down, so for the first time this reading is done with a card from each deck. Ā Also interesting to see was who else vied to come play and actually pushed the crystals out. Ā Wood, A Sand Dollar and a glorious rock from a beach I found years ago. Ā So think about it – we have 3 decks, wood, water and earth. Ā Most interesting! Ā (Love it when the Divine takes over).

So take a moment. Ā Just stop and roll your shoulders up back and down and feel your shoulder blades fall down either side of your spine like glorious wings. Ā As you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth envision a golden light coming out of the bottom of your feet and down, down, down into the earth into the warm, brilliant lava centre and as you take another breath feel the energy of earth move up that golden cord – up, up, up through your body and out through the top of your head as a silver light reaching up and connecting you to the Divine. Ā Keep breathing in this way and allow the light from the Divine to come down, through you and into the earth, then up from the earth, through you and into the Divine. Ā Ahhhhh, you are a glorious conduit for connection. Ā When you are ready, gently pull the energy back into your body, give your hands and feet a little shake and pick the card or cards that are calling to you.

Ready to go have a little look – see?

FAIRY OF THE DIVINE HAND

I am here to reveal to you what will tempt you. Ā It is delightful, this thing you are being offered. Ā And surely a little won’t hurt? Ā I am Fairy of the Divine Hand, and I appear to you when you are blinded to what you must see. Ā You know how it is….you start having a piece of candy, some soda, maybe a little junk food, then before long, you have more. Ā It may be another habit, such as judging yourself or others way too harshly, thinking negatively, or giving up too early on exercise and good healthy practices, that you are indulging in. Ā Gossip too, falls under my domain. Ā While it can be wickedly delicious, it always leaves such a sour aftertaste.

Come and truly examine what is being offered to you. Ā Underneath this apparently harmless fun, spending, partying, distraction, or giving up too early on exercise and good healthy practices, and temptation lie disorientation and fear, and things may appear to be quite different than how they truly are. Ā But here……look and look closely. Ā Do you begin to see what will take place if you continue down this path? Ā Do you sugarcoat the possibilities of where this may end? Do not push down the feelings and warnings you have; instead come a little closer, and look.

Do you begin to understand that what seems such a small thing may indeed change lives? Ā Take a moment. Ā Look. Ā Think. Ā Connect with Ā your deeper wisdom. Ā Decide whether you will join in with what is tempting you, or whether you will watch a while longer and make the wise decision instead. Ā

You know when this temptation comes that you do not need to flee, you do not need to indulge, you do not need to curse and berate this lovely, very earnest fairly with her clear message to stop, and truly look at what is taking place. Ā You know you simply need to pause. Ā Be quiet.Ā  Clear. Ā And know now that one of your fiercest addictions is seeking you out, and you are wavering, caught in its delirium. Ā This is not an opportunity to escape. Ā This is your chance to break free!

RED COUNTESS

Deep within, you know what is true and what to do (or not do). Ā Yet there is so much noise and distraction in the world, and even at times in our own minds, that listening for our inner wisdom can seem like trying to hear gentle birdsong in the midst of a rock concert. Ā Even so, you are hearing an inner truth, and deep down, you know it. Ā Can you trust that it is safe to not only hear your inner voice but act on it too?

There is something that you know. Ā You’ve felt, sensed, heard or realised this truth more than once. Ā Even if others see or feel differently, you just know what you know, even if you don’t quite know how you know it! Ā

Give your truths value. Ā Hold your feelings and insights in high enough esteem to pay attention to them, to give yourself time to process what you think, feel and sense. Ā Know that they’re worth acting on, even if that action just means to trust more and stop worrying. Ā Ā If you cannot figure out what your inner truths are, or you feel confused by conflicting thoughts and feelings, torn between head and heart, then you are in a state of information overload. Ā You need to switch off, discharge some excess mental and emotional energy and take a break. Ā Give yourself some time out from the crazy noise and constant distractions of the world so you can get in touch with what is true for you.

THE PENDRAGON

I am He who is the hunter, the sage, the father, the provider, the protector. Ā I am he who watches over his people and does his best for his family. Ā I am He: your brother, your father, your husband, your son. Ā I am sheer powerful masculine energy and I am the lover of the Goddess of the Dragonfae. Ā Together we create wholeness, Ā apart we wander alone and are more easily wounded, even destroyed. Ā I have a role: to care for others, to use my physical strength and to use my attributes to fight for those I love. Ā And I will do that. Ā I am King and Emperor and God…and I care for you. Ā Do not fear me: I would not hesitate to sweep you into my arms and hold you.

I love you, but know that my role here takes me away many times from all the love and playfulness that still lives inside of me. Ā Trust in my actions. Ā See the truth and choose a partner who is in action a strong and caring manly man. Think of some of your positive experiences with men this lifetime: from moments with your father, to times when a man has acted honourably. Ā Now, from those examples, begin to allow more of that version of masculine energy into your life. Ā Ā

Gradually, let’s change your ingrained and sometimes negative beliefs about men…and when Pendragon walks in, he demands that you treat the men he sends your way with respect and honour….just as he will treat you in return. Ā You will notice that ignoble men no longer have a place in your life and that you are no longer attracting them. Ā Indeed, Pendragon wonders why you would waste your time with people who do not behave in a noble fashion, and he does not want you to be involved with men who behave deceitfully, who are fearful of their own power, or who take advantage of members of their own family or their partners.

Holy Hannah, the cards had a lot to say this week about where we can get lost in our addictions, that we need to get quiet and allow our inner voice to speak to us and to celebrate and welcome in healthy masculine.Ā  How did that feel for you? Even more interesting to see that the three decks worked together and that the elements that came to play totally tied into the message of the cards!Ā  Sand Dollar representing water is Spirit and that’s what the card asked you to do.Ā  Love, love, love it.Ā  Anyhow gorgeous one, wishing you an amazing week – remember to take a bit of time tomorrow to set your intentions and seeds with this lovely New Moon.Ā  See you next week and remember – you are awesome and to smile (it looks really good on you).Ā  Huge hugs.

Happy 2018 – it’s going to be an amazing year! First reading of this New Year.

Jenny Heston · 2:00 pm ·

Happy Magnificent, Magical, Mystical, Manifesting, Marvelous Monday! (How’s that for alliteration?) Gosh, it feels like yonks since I’ve nattered with you, but it has only been a couple of weeks and in that time we crammed in Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and all the hullabaloo of the holiday season. I will admit that I really felt that I needed a holiday from the holiday if that makes sense. Then on top of it the question that seems to be everywhere is ā€œWhat are your New Year’s Resolutions?ā€ Fuck that! (Pardon the language). I loathe that question and sometimes my inner rebellious teen flares to the surface and wants to give said questioning person a lecture on a different way to approach it. I work with a word, a word to guide me in all areas of my life, whether business, family, relationships, hobbies you name it. If you have never thought about this, you can find out how (it’s quite easy just takes some digging). My word for this year is DELIGHT.

Let me ask a question – have you noticed that when it snows heavily birds don’t fly? I mean I know that sounds obvious, but I really only noticed it yesterday. Yesterday morning I was feeling a bit antsy, so I donned my snow pants, loaded up the beasts and found a gorgeous place to go explore up the mountain. Thankfully I had taken snowshoes as the snow was waist deep, and so I strapped a flying saucer to my back (a form of circular sled that goes really, really fast!), and off we went. The snow was coming down quite thick and I’m chatting outloud to the Universe and said: ā€œOkay Universe if this is what is meant to be, give me a sign – an Eagle or a big arsed Raven.ā€ Nope, nothing, instead it was so silent with the snow falling all I could hear was the whoosh from my snowshoes and the sound of the snow landing on my coat. But not a bird in sight. Hmmmmm. After I had reached the Apex and sat in a snowbank for a while, I hopped onto the flying saucer and literally flew down the mountain, nearly running over the hounds who thought that the game was to try and rescue me by throwing themselves in front of me! When I got home I put an offering of peanuts, sunflower seeds etc out for the birds and the squirrels, nadda. Later in the day I was sitting outside watching the snow and it occured to me – I hadn’t asked the wrong question (as that was what I had allowed to creep in), I had just picked the wrong time. I had asked to see a bird when it was puking down with snow, and if the bird had any sense it was happily roosting on a branch or tucked in its nest, not flying around in a cloud.

Thus, it reminded me that if you are bold enough to ask for something and it doesn’t happen immediately, there is nothing wrong with the ask, it just might not be the right time, so ask again and again. (That was my little learn for the weekend). So with all that being said we have a gorgeous new deck that really wanted to be the first reading of this glorious New Year. The Lightworker Oracle Deck . I have played and explored with her over the holiday time and have to say, I like her a lot. This deck is for lightworkers and what I mean by that is old souls. Old souls have an interest in being of service. They want to live a life of passion and purpose and have their life mean something at a spiritual level. They care about causes that stir their hearts. They are often the black sheep of their family. Does this sound like you? I know it does for me. The crystals that came out loud and proud are Ruby Zoisite, Citrine and Kyanite.

So let’s just pause for a moment. Imagine that you are bundled up and standing in the snow, all you hear is the sound of the snow as it falls. Breathe into that space of silence, breathe in through your nose and exhale out through your mouth. Keep breathing this way until you feel your shoulders start to relax, your belly become gorgeously soft and the breathe coming in an easier more effortless way. When your ready, take one last deep breath all the way down to your tippie toes and as you exhale pick the card, or cards that resonate for you.

Did you pick?

Shall we go see?

HOLD YOUR CENTRE

Have you been rushing out to meet others, trying to bend or accommodate their needs at the expense of your own well being and inner peace? Now you are to strengthen your own energy, your own boundaries, to find your ground, firmly place your feet there and do not move. Feel your feet anchoring you like a beautiful tree. Let yourself experience quiet certainty, as you hold your centre with commitment, courage and consciousness.

You are learning to trust your own instincts, to take your own journey without comparison to the life path of another. There is no need to become disheartened or distracted by comparison or judgements. The earth needs your light, which can only come from your. You will offer so much less if you try to make it match your beauty to what you perceive to be the beauty of another.

Many souls who are different and unique were not understood, acknowledged and valued for whom they were as children. Instead, they were encouraged to conform, to change, to be other than their true self in order to be loved. This can be a hard pattern to break. Yet the time is here for you to love and honour yourself as yourself. You are beautiful. You do not need to change for another. You certainly do not need to change for the Divine. You are being encouraged, instead, to distill your essense, to become even more of you. Hold your centre, now and do not be rattled by any other, through intimidation, confrontation, doubt, jealousy or fear. To ā€œhold your centreā€ means you accept your innate value and worth, your right to exist and thrive and accept the love that created you as you in order to fulfil your divine destiny.

FAMILY OF LIGHT

The limits that much of humanity place upon their love – that they will love their own family, country, religion or community better than they love those on the outside – do not restrain your heart. You are capable of loving humanity, of loving all creation on Earth, as an extended spiritual family. You will love all as your own. You are meant to belong to a broader family of light.

While some souls have incarnated to learn about ā€œus and themā€, others have the purpose of teaching unconditional, all-embracing love. You are one of these. You have taken life to love the many, not just the few. For this life purpose to be anchored, issues in your biological family may keep you from bonding with them in a typical way. Perhaps you were the odd one out in your family, the one whom no one really understood. Perhaps you felt loved, but couldn’t live the way your family seemed comfortable to live. Maybe you lost family members through divorce, disease, depression and death – or through addiction of emotional immaturity that left you disconnected from key family members.

Whilst these bonds are necessary for many souls to experience their life lessons, the difficulty you may have experienced regarding them helped push you to become a child of love. You had to seek ā€œfamilyā€ in expansive ways, remaining open as you searched for love, rather than feeling satisfied by your immediate tribe and closed to those outside it. So it is time to ently undo the patterns of attempting to fit in. Instead, trust that you are exactly as you were meant to be. When you do, your magnetism will draw love and friendship from those who vibrate at similar level of consciousness to you. Leave past hurt and rejection behind. You no longer need them to grow.

Be brave. Pray to connect to your family of light, not only in spirit but also here on Earth. Let them in. Know that you belong here in spirit and in body, to be loved, held, touched, listened to and accepted, just as you are.

PARADIGM SHIFT

You are undergoing radical growth in your belief systems. Now is the time to challenge old attitudes and question previous expectations. You are in an extraordinary time. Great leaps forward can be made in a moment. The world you thought you knew can suddenly break open, and a new world can become your reality.

Buddhists sometimes speak of the ā€œbeginner’s mindā€ – that which assumes nothing and therefore is open to everything. Old souls can sometimes find it hard to recapture their ā€œnot knowingnessā€. Asking someone with a lot of life experience, who may have become a bit world-weary, to drop expectations and look at the world through fresh eyes can be challenging. Yet life becomes much more energising and interesting when you are open and don’t hold expectations about what will be. Suddenly, you are receptive to the Universe helping you in ways that, in the past, you did not believe possible – all because you kept an open mind.

If you are feeling that you don’t really know yourself, your relationships or your place in the world as you once did – if you are feeling that what you once held to be certain now seems to be a little shaky – these are signs that you are going through paradigm shift. This will bring you new perceptions that will free you to be in the world in new ways. You will find yourself shedding old limiting fears and misconceptions. You are stepping beyond what you have known . You are a bit like a traveller in a new city feeling awkward until she gets the ā€œlay of the landā€, and how things operate in that new place. As you trust the unexpected and unknown, the Universe will be able to help you in unexpected and previously unknown ways. Embrace the power you have to be a free thinker. Dare to think thoughts of love rather than lower your vibration by choosing thoughts of fear. Trust, for something helpful and empowering is happening in your soul.

Well that was a delicious reading and I believe a great way to kick off this year, and all the cards pointed in various ways back to one Source.Ā  You are love, you are light, you are perfectly perfect as you. Wishing you a glorious week and as always I love your comments, questions and insights. Stay warm and cosy, remember to smile and laugh and be gentle with yourself. You always have time! See you next week.

New Year’s Resolutions? I think NOT!

Jenny Heston · 4:25 pm ·

This morning as I was grabbing some groceries, the woman ahead of me asked what my New Year’s resolutions were. Ā I looked at her rather askance and said ā€œI don’t make them as I don’t believe in that process as it doesn’t work for me.ā€ Ā She looked me up and down, gave me a ā€œknowingā€ smile and turned away. Ā Excuse me?

I used to be one of those people who when New Year’s Eve rolled up would be the first to list off my resolutions loud and proud – learn a new language, bungee jump 5 times in the year, become vegetarian – you name it. Ā Do you know where those resolutions got me? Ā Eating more meat, hating French class and being terrified of bungee jumping.

Was it because I had picked the ā€˜wrong’ resolution? Ā No (well possibly when it came to bungee jumping as I’m not a fan of tall heights). Ā It was just more a case of not being 110% committed, connected and filled with conviction for my resolution longer than about 2 months. Ā

Think about it, if you are a regular gym goer, do you find yourself avoiding it in January? Ā Why? Ā Because everyone who has decided to lose weight, get in shape or improve their health buys a membership. Ā What do you see come late February/early March – a much emptier gym. Ā Now don’t get me wrong I’m not raining on anyone’s parade who wants to change something, improve something or learn something new.

However, my question is How Do You Want to Feel, whilst your doing whatever it is that you have chosen. Ā When we make a resolution it is purely focused on ā€œDO-ingā€, not on the core state of ā€œBE-ingā€. Ā In our culture we have been trained to the DO-HAVE-BE model. Ā If I DO this, I will HAVE that and then I can BE happy. Ā How about we flip it? Ā Let’s work with the BE-DO-HAVE model. Ā Ā How do you want to BE? Ā How do you want to feel all year? Ā When you are faced with a challenge what is the BE-ing state you want to drop into, the BE-ing state to support your choices?

Feel? Ā Feel? Ā Yes Feel. Ā Do you want to feel Joyful, Expansive, Radiant, Stronger, Sexier, Wealthier? Ā How do you want to feel? Ā

So are you willing to try something different?

About 7 or 8 years ago I ditched New Year’s resolutions and decided to go with a word (just one word), that I could hold like a touchstone in all areas of my life.Ā  A Word of the Year.Ā  This was an amazing tool that I learned from Christine Kane.Ā  This one simple word represented to me how I wanted to Feel, how I wanted to BE, which in turn massively encouraged me on the activities that I did and has created some wonderful impacts in my life. Ā

As Christine Kane says; ā€œ Let’s say you are one of the many people who would normally choose ā€œGet Organized.ā€ You’re tired of the chaos. So, you think, ā€œI need to get organized. That should be my Resolution this year.ā€ Ā You look around and it feels as if areas of your life are out of control and overfilled with – blaugh.

You sit with your clutter. You spend a few days pondering words that will inspire you. You realize in an ā€œAh-Ha!ā€ moment that you tend to cling to lots of things. You’re scared to let go, whether it is the trinket someone gave you, the old relationship, the clothes that don’t fit…..So maybe the word for you isn’t ā€œorganisedā€, maybe the word is ā€œReleaseā€. Thus, you choose the word ā€œReleaseā€ because it inspires you in a bigger way than ā€œGet organized.ā€

So, every time you approach your clutter or old relationship patterns you remind yourself of your word. ā€œReleaseā€. Ā Ā You start to let the clutter go. Eventually, you realize that you’re still holding on to lots more than just physical clutter. You realize that you hold onto resentments at old relationships. ā€œRelease,ā€ you remind yourself. Ā ā€œReleaseā€ is your touchstone. It grows you throughout the year. It becomes your guiding force, not your harsh standard.

So for me in 2012 my word was Flourish and it was delicious to see what happened, in 2013 it was Desire and again it was mind blowing. Ā 2014 was Expand, 2015 was Believe, 2016 was Radiant and 2017 was Trust.Ā  I’m still perking my word for 2018, there have been a few contestants, but I like to let it process whilst I reflect on this last year and what felt good and what didn’t feel good then from that place look at my desires and how do I want to feel with my family, my work, my clients, myself.Ā  So I would love to hear what your Word of the Year is going to be and why.Ā  If you need some help with picking your word, Christine has a lovely Word of the Year tool here, that is totally free.Ā Ā

Once I’ve picked my Word, I make sure that I have an image of it around my home, a little slip in my wallet and it goes in the front of my new planner for the year.

So what is your word going to be this Year?

8 Rituals to help you celebrate Winter Solstice.

Jenny Heston · 8:31 pm ·

I love Winter Solstice and I can feel the energy of it for a few weeks before it even arrives. Ā It’s dark far earlier, much colder outside and there is a desire to cocoon, wear warmer clothes and eat soup (at least for me). Ā There is a sensation of reflection, going inwards and questioning that arrives naturally from this energy. Ā To me this is a time where I notice those ā€œmehā€ moments more and really examine my life and ask the question ā€œAm I showing up and embodying what I am called to do?ā€ That’s why, to me, I feel it vital to take some time out to honour this energy and work with it which in turn allows me to feel aligned. Ā In fact I feel more balanced, connected and inspired after I have taken some time. Ā

So what is Winter Solstice and why celebrate it? Ā Why take the time to honour it?Ā  Good questions, so let’s explore from whence it came and what it means.

Winter Solstice takes place on the day where the night is the longest and the hours of sun or daylight are the shortest. Ā In fact ā€œSolsticeā€ comes from two Latin words: sol meaning “sun” and sistere meaning ā€œto stand stillā€ because it appeared as though the sun and moon had stopped moving across the sky. This longest night of the year, followed by a renewal of the sun, demonstrates the cyclical order of the cosmos. In this way, celebrating the solstice can be a beautiful remembrance that our lives are part of a larger order, always changing, always renewing. Ā It’s a gorgeous invitation to not be afraid of the dark or the shadow, as it is in that place is where we shift, grow and recharge. Ā

Winter Solstice has been celebrated in various forms and for thousands of years across a myriad of cultures. Ā

There was Saturnalia in Ancient Rome which began on December 17 and lasted for 7 days. Ā These celebrations were held from as far back as around 217 BC to honour Saturn, the father of the gods. Ā

Feast of Juul – This is where we get the term Yule from at this time of year, was a pre-Christian festival observed in Scandinavia at the time of the December solstice. Ā People would light fires to symbolize the heat and light of the returning sun and a Juul (or Yule) log was brought in and dropped in the hearth as as a tribute to the Norse god Thor. Ā This log was burned until nothing but ash remained. Ā The ashes were then collected and either strewn on the fields as fertiliser every night until Twelfth Night or kept as a charm. Ā

Yalda – or Shab-e-Chelleh (night of fourty) is an Iranian festival celebrated on the ā€œlongest and darkest night of the yearā€ – Solstice. Ā Every year, on December 21st, Iranians celebrate the arrival of winter, the renewal of the sun and the victory of light over darkness on Yalda Night. Ā

Santo Tomas – a celebration in Guatemala where the Mayan Indians indulged in the ritual known as the Palo Volador, or ā€œflying pole dance.ā€ Ā Three men climb on top of a 50 foot pole as one of them beats a drum and plays a flute. Ā The other two men wind a rope attached to the pole around one foot and jump. Ā If they land on their feet, it is believe that the sun god will be pleased and that the days will start getting longer.

Ā If I were to try and explain this celebration in a nutshell it would be a time for introspection, embracing of the shadow, a willingness to walk into the dark, to then celebrate the returning of the light within and without. Ā This is a celebration of honouring the dark before calling into the light and then most certainly celebrating the return of the sun and the light.

So let’s talk rituals – some people get really weirded out when the word ā€œritualā€ is mentioned. Ā So let’s put some myths aside right now – there is no right way or wrong way, you don’t have to have all the ingredients for a certain ritual, it doesn’t need to be complex and over the top (but if that’s your style, go for it). Ā I personally like simple rituals that I can do with my kids, on my own, with friends I trust and I don’t ever want them to feel like I am adding to my ā€œto doā€ list, especially in this frenzied time. Ā

To me ritual is intentional and all about creating space for you to tap into the seasons, the reasons and yourself. Ā By performing simple rituals with personal meaning to celebrate the solstice, these rituals will serve as touchstones to help you cultivate an attitude of receptiveness and appreciation that will carry you through the holiday season with more ease. Ā A good starting point might be to make a promise this winter to spend more time listening, watching, and honoring the slower, quieter rhythm of the season.

Always, always start with setting the space. Ā Whether it is lighting a candle, hanging a wreath of evergreens or just sitting in silence for a while. Honour yourself, your connection to Gaia and Spirit, the celebration and get clear on your intention. Ā Let’s explore some rituals to help you tap into this gorgeous energy, gain more peace and clarity and release whatever is not serving you. Ā

Be Still, Be Quiet –Ā Tools – You, a candle.

The minute I wrote that title I thought of the song based on ā€œChristina Rossetti’sā€ poem – In the Bleak Midwinter. Ā

If you don’t know this poem the first stanza is ā€œIn the bleak mid-winter, Frosty wind made moan; Earth stood hard as iron, Water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, Snow on snow,Ā In the bleak mid-winter long ago.ā€

Yet for some reason this poem captures the energy of this celebration. Ā It is a time to stop, stand still. Ā

So if you are willing (appreciating we are all very busy – as we tell ourselves), take some time to just be quiet. Ā Turn off all the electronica, the TV, the cell phone, your laptop or whatever it is. Ā Sit in the dark and just breathe and as you breathe imagine a glorious sunlight coming into your heart space and as you breathe out release the strings of darkness that we all have. Ā Keep breathing in this way and with those intentions and when you’re ready gently bounce up. Ā Turn on the lights, light a candle and eat something sunny. Ā An egg perhaps?

Release, Cleanse and Create!-Ā Tools – Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedar, Juniper Berries or Sage, a candle, journal for writing in. Peace and quiet for 20 minutes. Ā

Create a space. Ā Just sit, light a candle and give out a blessing. Ā Anne Hayman has a lovely one that I work with – ā€œ Bless me on this holy day, as I honor the traditions of my ancient sisters. I hold space for myself + for all living creatures on this planet. I stand strong in this long night of darkness. I trust that the light returns. I see my own energy reflected in nature as I go within, only to emerge full of light. May the blessings be… And so it is!ā€ Ā

Then take a bit of time to write out what you want to release, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Ā Where are you holding it in your body and how you will feel when it is released? Ā When you’re finished writing, rip the paper up and place it to the side.

Then using Frankincense, Myrrh and Cedar (if you are using the real thing then you will need a charcoal disc to burn them on). If you don’t have these, no panic – use Sage smudge or whatever you have. Ā Light this sacred incense up let it waft through the air and take a moment to think about all you have released. Ā Then with the candle you lit at the beginning, over a safe container, light up the pieces of paper you ripped up. Ā

As you watch the flames devour your darkness and releasing see it all absorbed back into the sky, the Universe, healthy, cleaned and transferred. Ā .

Sit for a moment with the waft of incense around you and your candle burning and say to yourself – ā€œLight above me, light around me, light within me, light below me. Ā My light is my strength and my protection.ā€ Ā You have just welcomed the light back.

So now you have created a glorious, sacred space within yourself with this ritual. Ā What do you want to fill it with? Ā

Imagine yourself as fully connected to the Divine and the Earth, you are a conduit in the middle. Ā With this glorious energy pulsing through you – what do you want to create? Ā What makes you feel energised? Ā What makes you feel vibrant and alive? Ā How do you want to share your light with others? Write it all down. Ā If you use cards and feel fully connected to them, do a yearly spread. Ā If you want some help, let me know.

When you are done, place both hands on your heart and breathe long and deep. Ā You have just done something that is powerful and changes energy in a deep, subtle way. Ā Breathe in, breathe out and know, trust you are a delicious being of light and love. Ā So it is, and so it will be. Ā

Get outdoors!Ā Ā Tools – You and the outdoors.

Is there a trail you can walk or a field or bank of snow you can lie down in? Ā

A perch that provides the perfect view? Ā Perhaps it is the top of your apartment building or a rocky outcrop. Ā Wherever it is, even it is in your yard, find a quiet place to just acknowledge and BE.Ā  Ā Get outside, whether it is at night or to watch the glorious sunrise.Ā  Get outdoors.

Create a Giving Tree – Tools – Food in the fridge, popcorn strings, a tree, candles.

This is deliciously easy and can be done on your own, with your partner or with your kids. Ā Create a giving tree (this is where the idea of Xmas trees came from). Ā Make some strings of popcorn and berries, apple slices or whatever you would like to do. I have done nuts on strings, apple slices covered in peanut butter embedded with seeds, popcorn and cranberry strings. Ā

Take all your glorious offerings to the tree you picked, whether inside or outside.Ā  In the dark hang your strings on the treeĀ  and tell the tree how you welcome the light back so that there is more than enough abundance for everyone and everybeing. Ā Stand back in the dark and revel. Ā Then light your candles up and just take some time and appreciate where you are, your glorious tree, the offerings you made and the light coming back. Ā If you want to burst into song with something like ā€œHere Comes the Sunā€ by Simon and Garfunkel, then you so need to send me a video!

Invite People for Dinner! –Ā Tools: You, friends or family, candles, food and a willingness.

This is a celebration time and what better way to celebrate than share food with others.

Sharing food is an important part of any celebration, it is particularly meaningful during Solstice as it represents faith in the return of the sun and the harvest. Ā So have a friend or more than one over for dinner! Ā Light some candles, share your goals, intentions and what you want to ā€œharvestā€ in the next 6 months. Ā

Turn off the Lights! –Ā Tools: You, lights and thermostats?

This is super easy, turn off all the lights in your home, turn off your furnace, radiators, , baseboard heaters or whatever form of heat you have. Open the doors and windows wide and allow the cold air to flood in and breeze through (I highly recommend you bundle up).

In that soft darkness sit and BE in silence for a good 5 minutes or more. Ā With the combination of dark, cold and silence it cultivates a stillness in yourself. Ā You may feel a tad wiggly or odd but just keep breathing.

I used to do this with the kids when they were younger (and this is also my youngest monster’s birthday) it was quite profound to see what came up and out. When you are done with the dark (and don’t run from it), Ā go around and gently close the doors and windows, put on your heating supply and as you do send a little blessing out ā€œAs the darkness begins to retreat and light begins its return once again – I am gratefulā€.

Then light candles galore (this welcomes back the sun), sing songs, share food and stories and what came up. Ā And most importantly relax, enjoy and celebrate! Ā If you are doing this on your own, after you have lit your candles, put on music that makes you feel awesome. Ā Move your body and eat something delicious that is not your norm and give huge thanks.

Walk into the Dark –Ā Tools – evergreen boughs, candles, apples and again – a willingness.

I have done this one for quite a few years with my kids and friends and it is stupendous and delicious. Ā The Spiral Walk. Ā

A few days prior to Solstice we go gather a truck filled with cedar boughs (keep in mind I do live on the side of a mountain). Ā Then on the white snow we create a spiral that you could walk like a labyrinth. Ā In the centre of the spiral is a tree stump covered with nature’s offerings – berries, shells, pinecones and crystals and a large candle.

The evening of Solstice we all gather together and each has an unlit candle in an apple and the only lit candle is the one in the centre of the spiral. One at a time gently holding the unlit candle someone walksĀ  the spiral into the darkness, towards the light they whisper what they want to release. Ā When they hit the centre they light their own candle and as they walk slowly back out of the spiral they say what their creation, hearts desire, manifestation are going to be. Ā

When they see a lovely spot that resonates for them they put their apple candle on the spiral and so it goes.Ā  Ā By the time this ritual is done the spiral is lit up all over the place and then we would go inside, turn on all the lights and eat a meal and celebrate together. Ā Have to say, every time we have done this as a family the spiral has been lit up all night and the centre candle has never gone out, no matter the snow or the winds. Ā

Gift and Share –Ā Tools: Ā You, your stuff, large bags.

You’ve heard the saying ā€œWhat is one man’s trash is another man’s treasure?ā€ Ā What better way to release and invite in the abundance that comes with the sun than releasing things you don’t need. Ā Now I’m not talking about those tatty, ripped stained jeans – but what about that sweater you haven’t worn in years, those jeans that are lovely but you don’t like? Ā Things like that. Ā What about the food in your pantry that was given to you or brought to a gathering that you are never going to eat as it isn’t your thing? Ā (For me I think of nuts as I don’t eat them). Ā

So intentionally gather these things together and as you bag them up to drop off where they can be really used, set the intention of releasing for yourself and that you have created space in your physical life for more abundance and light and that your donations are welcomed and helping someone who will really enjoy them and appreciate them. Ā

So wishing you a stupendous Solstice and a massive release and intention setting. Ā Remember there is no right way, you just have to take the time, set an intention and do it.

Happy holidays to all of you, whether it is Hanukkah, Christmas, Solstice or none of those. May you feel peace, love and tap into your light.

Here we go loves, tomorrow brings our once-in-a-bl Here we go loves, tomorrow brings our once-in-a-blue-moon moment. šŸŒ•šŸ©µ

This Sagittarius full blue moon is bringing a cosmic green light for growth, expansion and taking the leap into the known (and unknown).

It’s here to free you from the confines of your comfort zone, illuminate the beliefs and fears that have kept you small, and call you towards the fullest and truest expansion of yourself.

You may already be feeling the restlessness building. A feeling that something needs to change. That you’ve outgrown certain parts of your life, limiting thoughts, old stories or ways of being that no longer fit the version of you you’re becoming.

This moon wants you to stop waiting for some imaginary future and begin taking steps towards the life your heart and soul truly yearn for now.

You’ll know deep down where you’re being called to go and what you’re being called to do and yes, it may feel big. But your soul wouldn’t call you into it if you weren’t ready.

This is your once-in-a-blue-moon moment to believe in yourself, stretch beyond what feels comfortable, trust your path and take the leap.

Just like the Sagittarius archer, draw back your bow, take aim for what you want and go for it.

The Taurus new moon is a powerful reminder that we The Taurus new moon is a powerful reminder that we cannot hear the guidance or receive and anchor in the new energies and frequencies coming in when we are in a state of dysregulation or high alert.

The world is getting quicker and louder, and many of us are being pulled in too many different directions by too many different demands on our time, energy and attention, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, overloaded and agitated.

This moon is asking us to consciously slow down, unplug from the noise of the outside world and take back our attention from anywhere it’s scattered. Because when our attention is scattered, our power and awareness leak, making it easier to feel lost, uncertain and disconnected from ourselves.

This moon is asking us to root deeply into ourselves, regulate our nervous systems and reconnect to our own wisdom, because only from a grounded and rooted place can we truly receive and anchor in the new frequencies and possibilities trying to come through.

How are you being called to slow down and reconnect to yourself under this moon?

We’re taught early what it means to be a ā€œgoodā€ wo We’re taught early what it means to be a ā€œgoodā€ woman.
.
.
Be nice and agreeable. Don’t make people uncomfortable...even if it means you are.
.
.
We learn to shrink ourselves to keep the peace. To smile when something feels off. To choose politeness over protection.
.
.
But here’s the thing… that version of ā€œnatureā€ we’re told to follow? It’s not reality.
.
.
Look at females in the wild. They protect their territory. They defend their young. They set boundaries without apology. They don’t soften themselves to make others comfortable. They survive because they don’t ignore their instincts....Somewhere along the way, we were taught to override ours.
.
.
Being kind is not the same as being compliant. Being compassionate does not require self-abandonment... And your discomfort is not something you owe the world.
.
.
You are allowed to take up space, say no and choose yourself.
.
.
That’s not unnatural....That’s instinct.
Bealtaine blessings! šŸŒøšŸŒæšŸ§ššŸ¼ In the Celtic lands, the Bealtaine blessings! šŸŒøšŸŒæšŸ§ššŸ¼ In the Celtic lands, the ancient festival of Bealtaine marks the start of the summer season.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Traditionally Bealtaine did not have a fixed date, though it has come to be celebrated by many in modern times on the first of May (and here in Ireland, this week has indeed very much felt like our first glimpse of summer).⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
At this time of year we celebrate the greening, fertility, and abundance of the natural world. The land is bursting with life all around us, renewed from the long sleep of winter.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Much like the festival of Samhain, which sits opposite from Bealtaine on the ever-turning wheel of the year, this is a liminal time when the veil between our physical realm and the spiritual Otherworld thins.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It is said here in Ireland that the SĆdhe, the fairy folk, are more likely pass through the fairy forts, ancient burial mounds, and other ā€œthin placesā€ at this time of year (and folks who wander near these places may likewise find themselves wandering into the Otherworld).⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Many of the rituals performed during this festival are protective in nature.⁣ Perhaps the most time-honored of these rites is the Bealtaine bonfire šŸ”„ ⁣If you are unable to light a large fire, candle magic is a good option as well.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This energy makes Bealtaine a potent time for spirit work, hedge crossing (i.e. trance journeying), and divination. ⁣Similarly, you may have noticed your dreams becoming more vivid, or you might even experience prophetic or lucid dreams. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
In my own practice, getting out onto the land to connect with the local spirits is one of the most important aspects of this day.⁣ I gather herbs and flowers, have a picnic, sing, dance, and share offerings with the local spirits of place šŸŒ€
