Word of The Year, Controlled Sex, Sunshine and Smallness!

Jenny Heston · 1:01 am ·

Happy Marvelous, Magnificent, Magickal, Miraculous, Magnanimous, Majestic, Manifesting Monday delicious lovely!!  How did you do with the first eclipse of the season (we have another one coming up next week). Did you take some time to play with planting the seeds of New Moon wishes?

As most of you know, I was sick for a while with the gorgeous bugs that are floating around, and started to surface last Monday and of course decided that in one day I should try and do everything that I has missed out on for a week.  Bad plan! It threw me back to nearly square one! Grrrrrrr. Now, I don’t know about you but when I get sick (which isn’t often) it can make me really grumpy and explore some deliciously dark pockets and start to want to hang out with Eeyore!

So last week I decided to actually pay attention and let life unfold slowly and do things that nourish and recharge me and shift my energy.  This was a tad challenging for me, as it put me behind the eight ball with readings, coaching and all the rest of things that I love to do, however, the message was super clear – play, rest and self care.  Thus, I allowed myself Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to go out into the woods and as my glorious friend Renee calls it “forest bathing”. Slowly I could feel my body start to build up and energy drip in, even though my mind was telling me how many things I “should” have been doing and all the things that were outstanding.  But seriously, self care and nourishing oneself is vital!

Part of my self care time was exploring WOTY (Word of the Year) and reading.  Now if Word of The Year is new to you, let me tell you it is frigging amazing!  I happily released New Years Resolutions and have been doing this for nearly 13 years.  Great Jenny, what the heck is it? It’s finding the word that really resonates through every aspect of your being and letting it become your touchstone for the year as you move through work, life, family, exploring and growing.  I first learned this process from Christine Kane, and if you would like to download her workbook and find out more about it, you can right here.  Can one word make a difference?  Heck Yes!

This year, for 2019 my word is “Possibilities”.  We are so often taught that there aren’t possibilities (which feels constricting) or that there is possibility A or possibility B – bullshit!  As Pam Grout shares in her books – to live and work with the Divine/Universe there are infinite possibilities!!!  I am so all over all the glorious and gorgeous Possibilities that abound and not constricting myself to either there aren’t or there are only two!  So what’s Your Word of The Year?  What calls to you and invites you to be bigger, clearer and bolder?

The other part of my self care was reading and currently one of the books that I am reading is “The Complete Book of Witchcraft” by Raymond Buckland.  Fascinating! I love reading about the Old Religions, the ones that have been here for thousands upon thousands of years and then I hit a paragraph the other day that made me chortle and so I’m sharing it with you.  As I don’t know about you, but personally I don’t need anyone, or any institution to tell me when I can have sex!

“The early Church was extremely harsh on its people.  It not only governed the peasants’ way of worship, but also their ways of life and love.  Even between married couples, sexual intercourse was frowned upon. It was felt that there should be no joy from the act, it being permitted solely for procreation.  Intercouse was illegal on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays; for fourty days before Christmas and a similar time before Easter; for three days prior to receiving communion, and from the time of conception to fourty days after parturition.  In other words, there was a grand total of approximately two months in the year when it was possible to have sexual relations with your spouse…but without deriving pleasure from it, of course! Wow! Well that is certainly one method of birth control to say the least!  I wonder if all children were born around the same time?

As we are just literally 2 weeks into this New Year and we explored last week that this is a 3 year, one of Creativity, Joy and Renewal and also the energy for this month is Cleaning it Up.  There is another facet, this is a Year of Sunshine! Why? If we look at the 19 card in the Tarot it is The Sun card! And as Biddy shares:- “The Sun represents success, radiance and abundance. The Sun gives you strength and tells you that no matter where you go or what you do, your positive and radiant energy will follow you and bring you happiness and joy. People are drawn to you because you can always see the bright side and bring such warmth into other people’s lives. This beautiful, warm energy is what will get you through the tough times and help you succeed. You are also in a position where you can share your highest qualities and achievements with others. Radiate who you are and what you stand for; shine your love on those you care about.

The Sun connects you to your power base – not fear-driven, egotistical power, but the abundant, inner energy radiating through you right now. You’ll sense it in your Solar Plexus chakra, calling you to express yourself authentically and be fully present in the world around you. You have what others want and are being asked to radiate your energy and your gifts out into the world in a big way. Tap into your power and use your Divine will to express that power in positive ways.”

So holy hannah, if you haven’t picked up by now, this is a delicious year and yes, there are shadows and challenges and to really shine you need to be able to see the shadow.  But Wowzer, so let’s look at playing Small!

If you turn on the news, read the papers or buy into a lot of the crap that is floating around there is a litany of reasons why you should become smaller and contract and constrict yourself.  Right? After all things are rigid and “this way”. There are so many messages out “there” that advise us to become smaller and smaller and take up less space energetically, but what if that is the wrong way to go?  What if, instead, we became bigger and bigger and more of our authentic, true, vulnerable, open selves? What would that look like? Life isn’t rigid, if we look at the cell alone it has a wall that is semi-permeable, so it can always change, it’s not fixed.  It’s not locked into “this is the way I have to be”. So stay with me for a moment as we briefly glimpse at that – if every cell in your body is semi-permeable and can change with the influences that it is fed, then why can’t you? After all you are this composite of cells that can get bigger and more vibrant and expand.  Will you? With the energy that is flooding around for this year about Creativity, Joy, Renewal, Sun, Expansion – are you willing to breathe into the space of playing a bigger game, taking up more delicious space and really sharing who you are? Love more, share more, BE more, talk more, be quiet more, create more, help more…….  I hope so!

I heard a fabulous quote yesterday “Love measures our stature: the more we love, the bigger we are. There is no smaller package in all the world than that of a man all wrapped up in himself.”

Read that again please.  You are not a small package, you are a glorious big parcel with bows, bells and bedecked like no ones’ business, so how about sharing that?  After all, why not step out on the limb of life and be willing to be a little uncomfortable and be willing to play with a lot of living, loving and joy!

Wow, I have chuntered on!  Okay, let’s crack on. The cards that danced with delight to come and play on this glorious light filled day are “The Lightworker Oracle”.  These are gorgeous guides that connect with divine light, help us accelerate our spiritual evolution and develop a connection with a higher spiritual guidance.  Whether you are just beginning or have been on a conscious spiritual path for some time, these guides will help you open up to the unconditionally loving higher spiritual worlds, walk the path of healer, lightworker or spiritual mentor for others on the path.

The crystals that were adamant that they wanted to come play are:- Red Snowflake Obsidian – which is great for bringing things to the surface, Fire Agate  – will light up your Spirit, Sodalite – a stone of truth.  Oh yes, and the little tiny pansies (with their happy faces) and snowdrops came to play as well.  Don’t fret, they are all in a glorious egg cup receiving water and tenderness.

So delicious lovely, let’s breathe into the energy of expansion and being a tad bigger.  I invite you to take a moment to just BE and breathe. As you breathe the glorious are in through your nose see your cells, your being, your aura, your dreams expanding and as you breathe out – see anything that is inhibiting that dispel.   Keep breathing this way for a few lovely breaths and then when you feel centred, settled and grounded ask gorgeous wise inner self – what would it look like, feel like to take up more space and BE bigger?

Ready to pick?

SECOND RAY OF WISDOM

The Second Ray of Wisdom is a consciousness of loving wisdom straight from the heart of the Universe.  It amplifies the magnetic power of attraction, empowering you to pull into your life ll that is needed for your life’s work.  It brings the opportunity to heal, restore and understand through the power of love, and the light of ancient wisdom. The spiritual master known as the Buddha is with you, now, to help you fully receive and integrate the blessing of this ray of light from the Universe.

This is the energy of the open and loving heart of the Universe.  It is inclusive, drawing all things towards it with an invisible magnetism.  It is gifted to you t this time to help you attract into your life the people, opportunities and teachings that will help you succeed in your life mission.

The challenge with this ray is that it is so magnetic and attractive, is learning to discern and say “no” when you need to.  Imagine a fisherman who casts a very wide net and catches most of the ocean in it!  Not everything is useful or even desired by the fisherman. While some things are gratefully accepted by the fisherman, other things are best returned to the ocean where they belong.

Being able to trust in future abundance is important.  You will not need to hold on to every opportunity, person or situation out of fear of loss or lack.  Instead, you are learning to live in true abundance and flow. Practise feeling comfortable in letting go, as well as receiving.  Trust that the Universe has all that you want and need in unlimited supply. The Universe will truly provide for you dear child of light.

SEVENTH RAY OF RITUAL, ORDER AND CEREMONY

When the gift of the Seventh Ray enters your life, something new is being formed, something that will benefit your world.  There may be an increased interest in magic, ceremony and ritual for healing purposes. Resonating with high frequency violet light and the Archangel Zadkiel, the Seventh Ray also helps transmute energy from the lower to higher frequency.  It is a spiritual cleansing agent that allows the truth of spiritual freedom, empowerment and choice to be seen and felt, restoring hope and joy to the heart.

The Seventh Ray is the push and pull between the old and new – the life that has been can no longer continue in that form, and the new life that wants to evolve from the old.  It honours traditions and ancestral wisdom that serve new life. You are asked to balance your attachment to what has been with an openness to the new. It is a time to fearlessly question what has been, honour what continues to hold value for you and dismiss what no longer serves you.

The Seventh Ray also creates form from invisible, intangible spiritual energy.  These are the inspired solutions and synchronicities that seem to come out of nowhere.  They are signs of the divine order happening. The Seventh Ray brings an alignment with that divine order, and the more you are willing to invoke nd allow that energy to bless you, the more your life will align itself with the genius of creativity, solutions and loving opportunities the Universe wants to bring to your world.

The gifts of ritual, order and ceremony are ways to attract this energy.  Conscious ceremony, done in service to unconditional divine love, feeds a need for sacred embodiment.  It is the hunger with the soul that many seek to feed through religion – and others through the less conscious rituals of addiction.  Ritual can be something that keeps you stuck, or opens you to the sacred.

The gift of the Seventh Ray is the ability to live as an embodied, divine presence.  For humans who don’t trust or even recognise the love of the Divine in their hearts as yet, those who do are are great supporters.  Use loving ritual to invite divine presence to fill you and your life. Use your consciousness to clean up your own energy field and the energy field of the world around you, so the Divine can show its face more clearly.  The comfort of this can help free all beings from anguish and suffering.

MASTER HEALING

As you meditate, remain true to what inspires your heart and commit to your spiritual path, you become an increasingly powerful healer.  You are here to live your own life, to be true to what genuinely moves you. The unconditionally loving guide and Ascended Master Serapis Bey comes to you now with a blessing of master healing to further your path.

You are asked to tune into your heart.  What do you love enough to overcome any obstacle to attain it?  What motivates and inspires you? Not what seem possible or practical, but what is authentic?  We are most powerful when we serve authentically from the heart. A bird might learn how to dive under water from time to time, but it is never going to be its most powerful if it has to live underwater.  It would struggle to thrive if it were to force itself into such unnatural expressions of its life energy. The bird yearns so fly because that is its divine nature and purpose. You too have divine nature and purpose, and your heart holds the clue.  What feels most like you?

It is difficult to access the truth of our own nature when we believe we should live up to the expectations of others.  If we are attached to an outcome or afraid of an answer, we can unintentionally block our perceptive faculties – a spiritual version of sticking our fingers in our ears and shouting, “blah, blah, blah!”  The blessing of Serapis Bey includes his clear flame of divine cleansing light. This can assist us in letting go of whatever blocks us from knowing the truth of our nature.

When we are willing to be who we are, the Universe can more easily guide us to fulfil our destinies,  Serapis Bey will help you see yourself truthfully. You my gain feedback from others that helps you understand the value of what you share.  Or you may simply find it easier to view yourself objectively, with a compassionate, appreciative and discerning inner eye. As you lean and accept who you are, you become a more powerful vibration for masters to put to use in the plan of love.

If you have a dream in your heart, know that is has been placed there for divine purpose.  What you dream and desire contains the seed of divinity. It is meant to help attract your life mission and fulfill it with love, joy creativity and pleasure.

So there we have it my delicious lovely.  Wishing you an amazing week and I would love to hear your Word of The Year!  Remember to breathe, smile and slowly start to play a bit bigger and more expansive.  Huge hugs and squeezes and lots of garlic!

New Year, New Energy, Partial Solar Eclipse oh and WOTY!

Jenny Heston · 1:11 am ·

Holy Hannah this is the first Monday of a glorious brand New Year!  So please let me wish you a glorious year filled with healing, health, happiness, harmony, glorious abundance and prosperity and may you take action on your dreams to co create with the Universe and make them manifest!

How was your holiday season?  Ours was radically different as we were all in different places and instead of trying to stuff ritual and traditions that we have had for 30 years into the new model, we created a new model!  Thus Xmas day found us playing golf on a course that was closed as we had been turned away from the “snooty” one that we had a tee time at, due to the fact the boys didn’t have button up shirts on!  (How he could see that when we were bundled up made me laugh). Any how it worked out perfectly and we laughed our tonsils off, followed by a huge International potluck – in other words pick the country whose food you like, make it and share it!  So we had Mexican, Thai, Pacific Northwest, Britain, Ireland and a few others! It was most interesting and really helped with this “transitional” Xmas. Oh and then played a ridonculous game that I made up (as my mother had forgotten the things she was meant to bring), but it turned out really well!  Then in a delightful fashion my lovely niece donated her “bugs” to me and I ended up spending a week in bed feeling like death warmed over and I couldn’t even bitch at her or beat her with a sharp stick as she had moved to the States! (Bugs, the gift that you can give to anyone! Lol)

Okay, oh my gosh there is so much to talk about!  Firstly, we have entered a New Year and this is a 3 year, okay Jen what the heck does that mean?  Last year was an 11 year (we are working Numerology here) and it was intense, lots of deep digging, unearthing and delicious challenges to help us grow and things being rammed in our face that we needed to look at.  With this year being a 3 year it’s all about Creativity, Renewal, Joy and Heartfelt expression.  As the amazing Kari Samuels shares:-  “There’s so much energy supporting you to re-invent yourself this year.  This is not to say there will be a ‘new you’. Rather, there will be MORE of yourself to share that you had previously been hiding from the world.  In 2019 you will learn to share your un-edited authentic self with the world.  The challenges of 2018 made it (painfully) clear the many ways you’ve been hiding the TRUE YOU, and suppressing that unique voice of yours. “

OMG, thank goodness, as I don’t know about you but 2018 was intense, lumpy, bumpy, expansive but certainly a delightful challenge!!!

Secondly, as we have touched on the energy of this year, let’s now explore the theme of this first month (ready)? If you remember every month there is a theme to the energy so for example November was – TRUTH.  Then December was – CHAOS.  This month the theme is – CLEAN IT UP!!!  Let me share what the wonderful Lena Stevans says:-  “We have some very big energies coming in that you will not be able to take advantage of if you are bogged down in physical, emotional and energetic clutter, old intentions, unfinished business, anything you have put off or procrastinated and should have done “yesterday”, regrets, unexpressed communication, attachments to disappointments and unmanifested dreams, persisting bad habits, and we can go on and on as the list is very long.

You cannot bring in the new without making space by cleaning out the old. It is very simple. We spend lots of time making new lists and talking about what we want to accomplish in 2019 but there is no room for anything new unless we declutter the past. If you clean up the past, you will have many more options about what and how to bring in some new dreams and experiences. And we have tremendous opportunity to do so.”  To read more you can find her here.

Wow, so we have big energy coming in and guess what we are in Eclipse season!!!

Now if you remember an eclipse  can generate an awareness of something larger, running the show and they poke holes in our ego/identity revealing things within us that we have been avoiding or are totally unaware of.

The first eclipse is a partial New Moon eclipse in Capricorn and depending where you are you would have experienced this either Saturday or Sunday.  As Astrology King shares this gorgeous New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse means:- “The January 2019 Solar Eclipse conjunct Saturn gives a serious and conservative influence but a helpful aspect to Neptune lightens the mood. This is an excellent solar eclipse for starting or growing a business. It is ideal for creative, musical and artistic projects and encourages acts of kindness and charity. With integrity and good intentions, it is possible to build your little project into a big business.”

So do you see a pattern happening here?  If we clean it up, let go of all those little pieces that have been dragging this is an amazing year for creativity, joy, projects and business.  Now remember New Moon time is an incredible time for really planting the seeds of intention, however, when an eclipse happens on a New Moon it energises these intentions in a much more powerful way and for approximately 6 months instead of just 4 weeks. Thus, I invite you to take some time (it doesn’t have to be hours and hours and please don’t overthink this) and really set some clear, strong intentions (or New Moon wishes) for yourself. If making New Moon wishes seems odd to you or you have no clue what I’m talking about – don’t fret pet, I have you covered, right here.

So the last piece we need to discuss is WOTY!  (Word of the Year).  Due to the fact that I may have overwhelmed you already with a lot, my invitation to you is spend the next week doing some homework (don’t worry you don’t need to buy funky notebooks and multi coloured pens – unless you want to).  Take time this upcoming week and really play with the energy and ask yourself “What do I want more of this year?” Now I’m not talking about – “I want more diamonds”, “I want a shed ton more money”, instead go under those and look at the emotion, the feeling state, the state of BEING and play with asking what you want more of and then next week we will unpack WOTY, okay?

Now that I have rambled on and on, let’s go to the reading (lol, some of you may have already done that and skipped the ramble).  When I asked the cards who wanted to come and be the first reading of this glorious New Year with all the delightful energies in play it was no surprise to see The Divine Circus Oracle bounced to the forefront!  Now if these delicious cards are new to you, please let me introduce them:-  “This deck is for those who find it hard to follow rules, conform, bend to authority and generally ‘do what they are told’.  May your rebel heart always be bold. May your spirit always be free. May you remember to live the Divine Circus and have fun doing things the way you aren’t supposed to, whilst living your most creative and unique divine destiny.”

The crystals that came to help and support are Malachite, Mookaite, Ruby Zoisite.  Yummers!

So delicious lovely, give yourself the gift of a few moments of peace.  Leave the phone somewhere else, close the door (even if you are in the bathroom) and just start to slowly and gently deepen your breath.  Feel your shoulders slide back and down, your jaw relax and your face come to a place of calm. Allow your breath to come in through your nose, deep, strong and down to your belly and then sigh it out with force – push all that old air from last year out.  Keep breathing this way and when you feel ready invite into your inner being the energy of creativity, renewal and clearing shit out. Take a few breaths with that energy and when you are ready pick the card or cards that resonate with that energy.

Did you remember to pick?

January 7th 2019 Reading

Curious, shall we go see?

January 7th 2019 Reveal

GYPSY COLOMBINE

The free spirit in you is rewilding itself, shedding social conditioning and past patterns of behaviour.  It is shaking off socialisation and emerging anew like a snake shedding a skin. The wild one within isn’t a savage.  It is raw, ye, but also wise, authentic, beautiful and with a deep instinctive knowing as to what you must be. Can a bird ever be truly happy whilst trying to be a fish?  True freedom is to be truthfully yourself.

Politeness and people-pleasing, not out of respect but out of fear you will otherwise be rejected, is a form of social conditioning that dulls the wild one within.  If you reject that conditioning in favour of rewilding, of getting touch with your true instincts and nature, you will exchange lukewarm tolerance from others for their passionate admiration and love.  And for those that cannot love you, that are afraid of how much life is in you, then let them be. They do not belong in your world, nor you in theirs.

It’s now time to let yourself off the hook, to forgive and forget, to allow what’s been to have been and to start again.  No regrets. No fear. No doubt. It’s time to heed the call of the wild and ask yourself, “What would set my spirit free?”

If you cannot answer that bold question quite yet, then it’s time to get in touch with the freedom-seeking, wild one within.  Dance. Play. Sing. Drum. Wear a feather in your hair and go barefoot. Let your instincts rather than your intellect guide you.  Swap the certainty of ego for the mystery of the soul. A new song wants you to dance it. Will you free your gypsy and dance to music you’ve never heard before?

WHITE DUCHESS

Don’t look to what has been to find your destiny.  Your future is bright and blessed. If the pain of the past feels a little too close for comfort, White Duchess steps in to help you leave behind the emotional storms of your past and move into her protection.  A time of transition is upon you and soon your feet shall settle upon sacred ground, and calm shall prevail, inside and out.

Are you one of the many suffering in a dark and stormy inner world of post-traumatic stress?  Do you believe that because there have been struggles in your past, and perhaps at times even great pain, that this is how your future shall be too?  Or perhaps you have been striving towards a dream and it seems so long since you began that you are losing hope of ever breaking through into successful fulfillment and a new life.

Don’t look back.  Let the past be put to rest.  Whatever has haunted your dreams, whatever has caused turmoil is over.  It is not needed anymore. There is a future destiny calling to you now.  It is time to transition through into a new world, into your new life. Trust her and believe in the positive power of your future.

PRINCESS VICTORIOUS

You are being asked to be a big picture person for the moment.  Sometimes immediate gratification has to give way for a grander scheme unfolding, which will ultimately lead you to far greater and more meaningful success.  What seems to be a delay, obstacle, loss or even failure now is a twist in the plot of your life, necessary for your gracious destiny to unfold according to a higher plan.

It can be hard to keep faith when you’ve been defeated just one too many times.  It is easy to make fear and doubt mean something they don’t; it’s usually something like being doomed to fail and so we might as well give up.  However, fear and doubt are just symptoms of fatigue. They are signs that we are feeling battle weary when it comes to life. To overcome weariness and create happiness, you are being asked to temporarily surrender your need to win – just for now.  Instead, you are guided to step back, regroup, replenish, be kind to yourself and know this: sometimes you have to be willing to lose the battle to win the war. That means being willing to go through things in the short term that might seem like failure without losing confidence, courage and trust that everything is going to go your way in the long term.

Know that you are strong and determined enough to bounce back and overcome difficult circumstances.  You will be given the power to succeed at the right time and in the best way for all concerned. So give in to how your journey is unfolding – even if it seems like you are losing when you’d rather be winning – but don’t give up hope.  Trust that the universe is strategic. It is helping you to succeed. If you need a sign to know that things are going to work out for the best, even if it seems like they are falling apart along the way, then this is it!

I’m sorry all I can say is Wow!  The cards, my guides are frigging amazing and if you note they all tie in with the energy and the themes of what is bustling around you right now.  Lol. Love it! So delicious one I wish you a stupendous week and please remember to make some glorious New Moon wishes (intentions) and also to perk more of how you want to feel this coming year, yes?  Sending you massive hugs and squeezes and also bright candles to guide your way and great footwear to walk it. See you next week!

Big Hugs!

10 Easy Steps to making Kick Arse New Moon Wishes!

Jenny Heston · 7:51 am ·

Yes, I do celebrate the New Moon, the Full Moon, every Equinox and both Solstice times (I think there is a hidden Pagan inside of me). Why?  Because it makes sense to me.   It is the celebration of our cycles, life, death, rebirth, a celebration of seasons and quite frankly I frigging love to celebrate most things!  In my world life is a glorious, joyful adventure and the more reasons to celebrate and share thoughts, feelings, laughter and glorious food – the better.

One of the questions I often receive is “When and how do I make New Moon wishes and how do I know that I’m doing them correctly?”  It’s really very easy and glorious fun.  First and foremost, you make the wishes/intentions/commitments at – guess what – the New Moon.  No it doesn’t have to be the exact moment and it doesn’t have to actually be that very day (although that is preferable), but if you are uber busy and remember the day after the New Moon, all good.

In fact, in my world, you can make your wishes up to about 48 hours after the original time, just don’t try and jump the gun and do them before hand.

Personally, I like to write them by hand as I spend a lot of time on my laptop writing so to stop, pull out my journal, find the pen that I love to write with (I am very picky about my pens, in fact I am a pen snob), curl up in a chair with a hot cup of tea and write, this is very Zen to me and I am far more present and focused.

Ahhh, now we get to one of the key (note that word please) key pieces – being present, focused and having intent.  If your idea of writing your wishes is to quickly scribble them down on a scrap of paper whilst cooking dinner, helping a kid with their algebra and grabbing the cat to throw outside as it’s making that gross hairball coughing sound, you might want to make a little bit of space for yourself and your desires and intentions.

Also, if you are making wishes to “change or alter” someone else.  You need to stop that now.  The wishes are for you, the manifesting is for you and it’s really important that you recognise that.  So for example, you can’t turn the arsehole you are sorta dating into a glorious Prince Charming, unless that is what he wants for himself.  If you are in an abusive, toxic relationship – you can’t manifest that the other person will change, but you can manifest that you have the courage to leave.  Does this make sense so far?

So here is my 10 step down and dirty list for making New Moon wishes.

  1.  Get a nice journal, writing book, cool pad of paper and a pen that you love to write with.
  2. Give yourself a little window of space and feel gratitude for all that is fantabulous, fun, yummy and delicious in your life already and really drop into that space.
  3. Then start thinking of 10 wishes or intentions for the next month that you would like to manifest.  Now here is the key – get to the feeling piece of it.  So for example, if your wish is for a huge flat screen TV.  Why?  Is it coming out of an envy or comparison (in other words your best friend has one and you just want one?)  Or is it coming from a feeling of – Gosh, it would be amazing to have a big TV and curl up with my kiddos on a Friday night, make popcorn and have a connected, fun movie night with them.  Do you see the difference?  So do please get clear on how you want, what you want, to FEEL!
  4. I tend to write mine out in present tense and most of the time with the words I AM at the front of the intention.  So if I have been dealing with some health issues and energy has been low and I would like it to be different, I would write – I AM healthy and vibrant in my body.  My body is strong, radiant, filled with energy and bug/virus free.
  5. Now write or draw your 10 wishes (yes, there are only 10 – which is actually a lot).
  6. Instead of closing the book and going back to busyness.  Take a moment and visualise and see each wish/intention as here and now.  How does it look?  How does it feel?  Does it feel scrumptious?
  7. Then decide what YOU are willing to commit to each of these wishes.  So for example, if your wish is to meet the partner of your dreams, what are you going to do to help?  Join a social club, join an online dating site?  You have to put some umph and action into your desires, it doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to be something.  So if you want to lose 10 lbs, perhaps your commitment is to eat healthy snacks and stretch instead of sitting on the sofa every night and eating 2 bags of Doritos.
  8. I tend to then take a few moments and just sit with my wishes/intentions and meditate on them.  It doesn’t have to be long, but I do feel it is important to sit with them and release them out to the ether.  As Abraham Hicks says, rockets of desire.  So if you can spend 2 minutes purely focused on your wishes – holy hannah, you are creating a gorgeous set of fireworks for the Universe to work with.
  9. Release the attachment to the outcome!  You have pondered them, you have written (or drawn) them, you have visualised them, you have spent a few moments in meditation now get out of your own way.  You may think you know the way they HAVE to come to you, but sometimes they can come in a better way.  So I tend to say outloud – With grace and ease for my highest good and the highest good of all concerned, I release these.
  10. At this point you can burn them if you want.  I personally don’t as I love going back over them and seeing all the glorious ones that have come true.  It is entirely up to you.  However, I will say, if you are burning them – do it safely!

So there we have it.  Is the New Moon a powerful manifestation time, most certainly.  Does every New Moon have different energy with it, yes.  Play with it, have fun.  I invite you to try this for the next 4 new moons and see what happens.

Wishing you a glorious partial solar eclipse New Moon in Capricorn and remember that New Moon Eclipse wishes have a more potent energy (just saying).

Winter Solstice and 9 Glorious Rituals to Tap into the Energy and Mysteries.

Jenny Heston · 8:18 am ·

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”

~ Lewis Carroll

I love Winter Solstice and I can feel the energy of it for a few weeks before it even arrives.  It’s dark far earlier, much colder outside and there is a desire to cocoon, wear warmer clothes and eat soup (at least for me).  There is a sensation of reflection, going inwards and questioning that arrives naturally from this energy. To me this is a time where I notice those “meh” moments more and really examine my life and ask the question “Am I showing up and embodying what I am called to do?” That’s why, to me, I feel it vital to take some time out to honour this energy and work with it which in turn allows me to feel aligned.  In fact I feel more balanced, connected and inspired after I have taken some time.

As a kid I used to be scared of the dark, I felt it held things that were terrifying and uncomfortable.  As an adult I have learned that’s not true and have become willing to walk into the darkness and allow myself to get comfortably uncomfortable and dig deep, explore the mysteries and embrace all aspects of being human.  Light and dark.  You can’t have one without the other!  Winter Solstice invites us with a safe open hand to step into the place of mystery, the warm comforting dark that wraps around us like a cosy blankie.  Whispering in our ear – rest, be, embrace, release, create, imagine, grow ……….

So what is Winter Solstice and why celebrate it?  Why take the time to honour it? The Pagan celebration of Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world.  Winter Solstice takes place on the day where the night is the longest and the hours of sun or daylight are the shortest. In fact “Solstice” comes from two Latin words: sol meaning “sun” and sistere meaning “to stand still” because it appeared as though the sun and moon had stopped moving across the sky. This longest night of the year, followed by a renewal of the sun, demonstrates the cyclical order of the cosmos. In this way, celebrating the solstice can be a beautiful remembrance that our lives are part of a larger order, always changing, always renewing.  It’s a gorgeous invitation to not be afraid of the dark or the shadow, as it is in that place is where we shift, grow and recharge.

Winter Solstice has been celebrated in various forms and for thousands of years across a myriad of cultures, all who are willing to step into the darkness and wait to welcome back the light. (And if you lived in medieval times that’s pretty ballsy!

In Britain long before the arrival of Christianity. The Druids (Celtic priests) would cut the mistletoe that grew on the oak tree and give it as a blessing. Oaks were seen as sacred and the winter fruit of the mistletoe was a symbol of life in the dark winter months.  It was also the Druids who began the tradition of the Yule log. The Celts thought that the sun stood still for twelve days in the middle of winter and during this time a log was lit to conquer the darkness, banish evil spirits and bring luck for the coming year.

There was Saturnalia in Ancient Rome which began on December 17 and lasted for 7 days.  These celebrations were held from as far back as around 217 BC to honour Saturn, the father of the gods.

Feast of Juul – This is where we get the term Yule from at this time of year, was a pre-Christian festival observed in Scandinavia at the time of the December solstice.  People would light fires to symbolize the heat and light of the returning sun and a Juul (or Yule) log was brought in and dropped in the hearth as as a tribute to the Norse god Thor.  This log was burned until nothing but ash remained. The ashes were then collected and either strewn on the fields as fertiliser every night until Twelfth Night or kept as a charm.

Yalda – or Shab-e-Chelleh (night of fourty) is an Iranian festival celebrated on the “longest and darkest night of the year” – Solstice.  Every year, on December 21st, Iranians celebrate the arrival of winter, the renewal of the sun and the victory of light over darkness on Yalda Night.

Santo Tomas – a celebration in Guatemala where the Mayan Indians indulged in the ritual known as the Palo Volador, or “flying pole dance.”  Three men climb on top of a 50 foot pole as one of them beats a drum and plays a flute. The other two men wind a rope attached to the pole around one foot and jump.  If they land on their feet, it is believe that the sun god will be pleased and that the days will start getting longer.

So if you were in doubt that Winter Solstice might be fictitious or flaky baky, let me assure you – nope.  If I were to try and explain this celebration in a nutshell it would be a time for introspection, embracing of the shadow, a willingness to walk into the dark, to then celebrate the returning of the light within and without.  This is a celebration of honouring the dark before calling into the light. Also, as a side note, Winter Solstice may occur on one day, however, this is a season of Winter we enter where we walk with the dark far more and allow ourselves to release what no longer serves us.

Let’s talk rituals – some people get really weirded out when the word “ritual” is mentioned.  So let’s put some myths aside right now – there is no right way or wrong way, you don’t have to have all the ingredients for a certain ritual, it doesn’t need to be complex and over the top (but if that’s your style, go for it).  I personally like simple rituals that I can do with my kids, on my own, with friends I trust and I don’t ever want them to feel like I am adding to my “to do” list, especially in this frenzied time.

To me ritual is intentional and all about creating space for you to tap into the seasons, the reasons and yourself. Ritual is intention made manifest into physical form.  By performing simple rituals with personal meaning to celebrate the solstice, these rituals will serve as touchstones to help you cultivate an attitude of receptiveness and appreciation that will carry you through the holiday season with more ease. A good starting point might be to make a promise this winter to spend more time listening, watching, and honoring the slower, quieter rhythm of the season.

Always, always start with setting the space.  Whether it is lighting a candle, hanging a wreath of evergreens or just sitting in silence for a while. Honour yourself, your connection to Gaia and Spirit, the celebration and get clear on your intention. Let’s explore 9 easy and amazing rituals to help you tap into this gorgeous energy, gain more peace and clarity and release whatever is not serving you. There is also a fabulous Winter Solstice visualisation to really help you explore the energy of this season.

Oh yes, and as an aside many of you have asked if the Solstice Special for Private Readings will be available after Solstice. Nope. The Solstice Special ends at midnight on December 21st. So take advantage of it now and if you want to start 2019 off with a fabulous private reading to help you set the tone of the year, we can do that!

9 Easy and Powerful Rituals to celebrate the Winter Solstice

9 Easy & Powerful Rituals to celebrate Winter Solstice.

Jenny Heston · 1:11 pm ·

Always, always start with setting the space.  Whether it is lighting a candle, hanging a wreath of evergreens or just sitting in silence for a while. Honour yourself, your connection to Gaia and Spirit, the celebration and get clear on your intention. After all you wouldn’t dash willy nilly into any form of creation would you?

Let’s explore some rituals to help you tap into this gorgeous energy, gain more peace and clarity and release whatever is not serving you. I’ve created a glorious guided visualisation just for Winter Solstice to really help you tap into the energy and the mysteries of this day and season.

Winter Solstice

Be Still, Be Quiet

Tools – You, a candle.

The minute I wrote that title I thought of the song based on “Christina Rossetti’s” poem – In the Bleak Midwinter.

If you don’t know this poem the first stanza is “In the bleak mid-winter, Frosty wind made moan; Earth stood hard as iron, Water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak mid-winter long ago.”

Yet for some reason this poem captures the energy of this celebration.  It is a time to stop, stand still. So if you are willing (appreciating we are all very busy – as we tell ourselves), take some time to just be quiet.  Turn off all the electronica, the TV, the cell phone, your laptop or whatever it is. Sit in the dark and just breathe and as you breathe welcome the glorious warm dark that allows you a place to rest and create, then as you breathe out invite a golden sunlight ball to illuminate what needs to be let go of.  Keep breathing in this way and with those intentions and when you’re ready gently bounce up. Turn on the lights, light a candle and eat something sunny. An egg perhaps?

Release, Cleanse and Create!

Tools – Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedar, Juniper Berries or Sage, a candle, journal for writing in.  Peace and quiet for 20 minutes.

Create a space.  Just sit, light a candle and give out a blessing.  Anne Hayman has a lovely one that I work with – “ Bless me on this holy day, as I honor the traditions of my ancient sisters. I hold space for myself + for all living creatures on this planet. I stand strong in this long night of darkness. I trust that the light returns. I see my own energy reflected in nature as I go within, only to emerge full of light. May the blessings be… And so it is!”

Then take a bit of time to write out to write what you release, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually.  Where are you holding it in your body and how you will feel when it is released? When you’re finished writing, rip the paper up and place it to the side.

Then using Frankincense, Myrrh and Cedar (if you are using the real thing then you will need a charcoal disc to burn them on). If you don’t have these, no panic – use Sage smudge or whatever you have.  Light this sacred incense up let it waft through the air and take a moment to think about all you have released. Then with the candle you lit at the beginning, over a safe container, light up the pieces of paper you ripped up.

As you watch the flames devour your darkness and releasing see it all absorbed back into the sky, the Universe, healthy, cleaned and transferred.  .

Sit for a moment with the waft of incense around you and your candle burning and say to yourself – “Light above me, light around me, light within me, light below me.  My light is my strength and my protection.”  You have just welcomed the light back.

So now you have created a glorious, sacred space within yourself with this ritual.  What do you want to fill it with?

Imagine yourself as fully connected to the Divine and the Earth, you are a conduit in the middle.  With this glorious energy pulsing through you – what do you want to create? What makes you feel energised?  What makes you feel vibrant and alive? How do you want to share your light with others? Write it all down. If you use cards and feel fully connected to them, do a yearly spread.  If you want some help, let me know.

When you are done, place both hands on your heart and breathe long and deep.  You have just done something that is powerful and changes energy in a deep, subtle way.  Breathe in, breathe out and know, trust you are a delicious being of light and love. So it is, and so it will be.

Get outdoors!

Tools – You and the outdoors.

Is there a trail you can walk or a field or bank of snow you can lie down in?  A perch that provides the perfect view? Perhaps it is the top of your apartment building or a rocky outcrop.  Wherever it is, even it is in your yard, find a quiet place to just acknowledge and BE.

Create a Giving Tree

Tools – Food in the fridge, popcorn strings, a tree, candles.

This is deliciously easy and can be done on your own, with your partner or with your kids.  Create a giving tree (this is where the idea of Xmas trees came from). Make some strings of popcorn and berries, apple slices or whatever you would like to do. I have done nuts on strings, apple slices covered in peanut butter embedded with seeds, popcorn and cranberry strings.

Take all your glorious offerings to the tree you picked, whether inside or outside in the dark and as you hang your strings on the tree whisper to the tree and to yourself how you welcome the light back so that there is more than enough abundance for everyone and every being.  Stand back in the dark and revel. Then light your candles up and just take some time and appreciate where you are, your glorious tree, the offerings you made and the light coming back. If you want to burst into song with something like “Here Comes the Sun” by Simon and Garfunkel, then you so need to send me a video!

Invite People for Dinner!

Tools: You, friends or family, candles, food and a willingness.

This is a celebration time and what better way to celebrate than share food with others.  Sharing food is an important part of any celebration, it is particularly meaningful during Solstice as it represents faith in the return of the sun and the harvest.  So have a friend or more than one over for dinner! Light some candles, share your goals, intentions and what you want to “harvest” in the next 6 months.

Turn off the Lights!

Tools: You, lights and thermostats?

This is super easy, turn off all the lights in your home, turn off your furnace, radiators, , baseboard heaters or whatever form of heat you have. Open the doors and windows wide and allow the cold air to flood in and breeze through (I highly recommend you bundle up).

In that soft darkness sit and BE in silence for a good 5 minutes or more.  With the combination of dark, cold and silence it cultivates a stillness in yourself.  You may feel a tad wiggly or odd but just keep breathing.

I used to do this with the kids when they were younger (and this is also my youngest monster’s birthday) it was quite profound to see what came up and out. When you are done with the dark (and don’t run from it),  go around and gently close the doors and windows, put on your heating supply and as you do send a little blessing out “As the darkness begins to retreat and light beings its return once again – I am grateful”.

Then light candles galore (this welcomes back the sun), sing songs, share food and stories and what came up.  And most importantly relax, enjoy and celebrate! If you are doing this on your own, after you have lit your candles, put on music that makes you feel awesome.  Move your body and eat something delicious that is not your norm and give huge thanks.

Walk into the Dark

Tools – evergreen boughs, candles, apples and again – a willingness.

I have done this one for quite a few years with my kids and friends and it is stupendous and delicious.  The Spiral Walk.

A few days prior to Solstice we would go gather a truck filled with cedar boughs (keep in mind I do live on the side of a mountain).  Then on the white snow we would create a spiral that you could walk like a labyrinth. In the centre of the spiral would be a tree stump covered with nature’s offerings – berries, shells, pinecones and crystals and a large candle.

The evening of Solstice we would all gather together and each have an unlit candle in an apple and the only lit candle was in the centre of the spiral.  One at a time gently holding the unlit candle a person would walk the spiral and as they walked into the darkness, towards the light they would whisper what they wanted to release.  When they hit the centre they would light their own candle and as they walked slowly back out of the spiral they would say what their creation, hearts desire, manifestation was going to be.

When they saw a lovely spot that resonated for them they would put their apple candle on the spiral and so it would go.  By the time this ritual was done the spiral was lit up all over the place and then we would go inside, turn on all the lights and eat a meal and celebrate together.  Have to say, every time we have done this as a family the spiral has been lit up all night and the centre candle has never gone out, no matter the snow or the winds.

Gift and Share

Tools:  You, your stuff, large bags.

You’ve heard the saying “What is one man’s trash is another man’s treasure?”  What better way to release and invite in the abundance that comes with the sun than releasing things you don’t need.  Now I’m not talking about those tatty, ripped stained jeans – but what about that sweater you haven’t worn in years, those jeans that are lovely but you don’t like?  Things like that. What about the food in your pantry that was given to you or brought to a gathering that you are never going to eat as it isn’t your thing? (For me I think of nuts as I don’t eat them).

So intentionally gather these things together and as you bag them up to drop off where they can be really used, set the intention of releasing for yourself and that you have created space in your physical life for more abundance and light and that your donations are welcomed and helping someone who will really enjoy them and appreciate them.

Be the Seed (or Bulb)

Tools:  You, Seeds, Some dirt, A Bulb

This is a fun one to do with kids, especially if you are living somewhere where the snow has hit and everything is going to sleep for a while.  I would do this with Hyacinth bulbs. Get a little pot, fill it with dirt (if you are using seeds such as beans you can use an egg carton). Gently take your seeds or bulb and whisper over them your intentions for the upcoming spring and then tuck them into the dirt.  Give them a little bit of water and wait. Now why this as a ritual Jenny? Think about it, you are the seed as we head into the Winter Season, this is a time to curl up in the Earth (Gaia) and snuggle down and allow your desires to perk, grow and slowly put out roots, just as the bulb or seed does.  It’s a fabulous physical representation of creation and everytime you give it a little bit of water or look over at it you know, deep in your core that as the seasons change and you get clear, the plants flourish!

There we have it!  Easy, intentional ways of celebrating the Winter Solstice! Thus, wishing you a stupendous Solstice and a massive release and intention setting.  Remember there is no right way, you just have to take the time, set an intention and do it. Oh yes, and don’t forget as some of you have asked – the Solstice special on Private Readings ends at midnight on December 21st.

Happy holidays to all of you, whether it is Hanukkah, Christmas, Solstice or none of those. May you feel peace, may you feel love, may you allow yourself to BE and explore the mysteries found in the glorious warmth of the darkness and tap into your light.

Happy Solstice!

Pink, pretty, agreeable, easy to look at and easy to manage. Somewhere we started believing that was feminine energy.

That’s femininity with the wild bred out of it.
