The Yule Faeries – A Winter Solstice Story.

Jenny Heston · 3:33 pm ·

Once upon a time, (as that’s how all good stories start), a long time ago there was a wee group of tiny Faeries.

This group of little Faeries huddled in their home deep under the roots of a giant oak tree. They were safe and snug in their tiny underground cave lined with dandelion fluff, bird feathers, and dried moss.

Outside, the wind blew cold and the snow fell softly down to cover the ground. “I saw the Sun King today,” the faerie named Rose said as she pulled her mossy cloak tighter about her. “He looked so old and tired as he walked off through the forest. What is wrong with him?

“The great oak said he’s dying” answered Daffodil.

“Dying? Oh, what will we do now?” Little Meadow Grass started to cry, “If the Sun King dies, our little plant friends will not grow. The Birds will not come and sing again. Everything will be winter forever!” Lilac, Dandelion and Elder Blossom tried to comfort their friend, but they were all very sad. As they huddled together, there was a knock on the tiny door.

“Open up, Faeries,” called out a loud voice. “Why are you hiding instead of joining us in our Solstice celebration?” Rose opened the door and the little gnome Brown Knobby pushed inside, shaking the glistening snowflakes off his brown coat and hat.

“We are too sad to celebrate,” Daffodil said wiping her eyes, “The Sun King is dying, haven’t you heard?”

“He is dead, you silly Faeries.” Brown Knobby’s round dark eyes sparkled with laughter. “Now hurry, or we’ll be late for the celebration!”

“How can you be happy and laugh?!” Elder Blossom stamped her little foot and frowned at the gnome. “If the Sun King IS dead, it will always be winter. We will never see the Sun again!”

“Silly little child-Faeries.” Brown Knobby grabbed Dandelion by the hand and pulled her to her feet. “There is a secret to the Winter Solstice. Don’t you want to know what it is?”

The Faeries looked at him in surprise. “Secret?” they all said. “What secret? We are only new little Faeries, you silly gnome. We’ve never been to a Solstice celebration before.”

“Come and see. Come and see. Get your capes and come with me.” Brown Knobby danced and jigged around the room. “Hurry, Hurry, don’t be slow! To the Sacred Oak Grove through the snow!” He danced out of the door and disappeared.

“What did that gnome mean?” Rose asked as she gathered up her cloak of dried rose petals held together with cobwebs and lined with goose down.

“I don’t know, but the Lady lives in the Sacred Grove.” Meadow Grass pulled on her hat.

“Perhaps if we go to see the Goddess, She can explain what Brown Knobby was talking about”.

The Faeries left their snug little home and trudged off through the snow toward the sacred oak grove. The forest was dark with only the light of the Moon shining down through the thick fir branches and bare limbs of maple and hawthorn. It was very difficult for them to get through the snow because they were very, very small. As they waded through the wet snow and shivered in the cold wind, they met a fox.

“Where are you going, Faeries?” the fox asked.

“To the sacred grove,” they answered, they were cold and shivering.

“Climb on my back and I will take you there swiftly.”

The fox knelt down so the Faeries could climb up. Then he raced off through the dark.

“Listen!” Lilac said as they neared the Grove of Sacred trees. “Someone is singing happy songs. A LOT of someones.”

The beautiful music carried over the cold, still, moonlit air. It was the most beautiful music the Faeries had ever heard. The fox carried the Faeries right to the edge of the stone altar in the center of the grove, then knelt down.

“Look!” said Elder Blossom as they slid to the snow covered ground. “There is the Maiden and the Mother and the OLD Wise Crone, and many other Little People.”

“They are all smiling and happy,” said Lilac as she looked around at all the creatures.

“All the animals are here too,” whispered Dandelion. “Why are they all looking at the Mother?”

The Faeries moved closer to the three Ladies seated on the altar stone. The Mother held a bundle close in Her arms, smiling down at it. The Maiden reached down and took the Faeries gently in her Hands. She held them close to the Mother so they could see what She held.

“A Baby!” the Faeries cried. ” A new little Baby! Look how he glows!”

“He is the newborn Sun King,” said the Maiden, smiling.

“But Brown Knobby and the old oak tree said the Sun King was dead,” the Faeries answered her. “How can this little baby be the Sun King?”

“That is the great secret of the Winter Solstice.” The Old Wise One touched the baby’s cheek with her wrinkled hand. “Every year the Sun King must come to the sacred grove during the darkest days of winter where he dies. I take his spirit to the Mother who gives him new life again. This is the way for all creatures, not just the Sun King.”

” You mean everything lives and dies and lives again? The Faeries looked down in wonder at the baby Sun King, nestled in the arms of the Mother.

” Yes, Little Ones,” answered the Old Wise Crone. “There is never an end to life. This is the great mystical secret of the Winter Solstice.”

The Faeries laughed because they were so happy.

“I think the little Sun King should have gifts,” said Rose. “I will show him where the wild roses bloom in the early summer.”

“And, I will teach him to call the birds and listen to the songs of the wind,” exclaimed Dandelion.

“When he is older and stronger, ” said the Mother, “then the flowers will bloom at his touch, the birds will return to sing their songs, and the air will be warm from his breath, and winter will be gone for a time. Then the Sun King will run and play with you in the forest.”

The little Faeries sang to the Baby Sun King, songs of the coming spring, the sweet smelling flowers, the bumbling bees, and all the secrets of the forest. And all the creatures within the sacred grove sang with them. Then the fox took them back to their snug home under the roots of the giant oak tree where they dreamed wonderful dreams, waiting for the warmth of spring and the fun they would have with the little Sun King.

New Moon in Aries, and what an Interesting Week it’s been!

Jenny Heston · 1:00 am ·

Happy, Magickal, Mysterious, Marvelous, Melodic, Manifesting, Merry Monday!  How are you my most delicious lovely?

It’s been a heck of a week and the world as a whole is reeling with what is happening.  Turn on any news, open a paper, talk to anyone and it’s all about Corona Virus. Which is why this post is not going to be about that.  Not because I’m being an ostrich, more a case of believing heart and soul that we need to find new tools, laugh and find ways of resiliency to help us feel calm, aligned, grounded and strong.  Yes?  And saying thank you to all the amazing people like first responders, health care workers, grocery store clerks whomever, who is still showing up even though they would rather be safe and at home.  Life as we know it has changed and we need to find a way through into something more sustainable, aligned and that benefits the whole!

As many of you know on Friday I sent out a link to a lovely community that I was told very clearly to create.  Light, Love and Laughter.  And as many of you know the link didn’t work, after digging and researching we found it is because the group is set to private.  Why private? So that we can be real, raw and rare – share our gifts, shine our lights and have those deep conversations.  So if you want to join us (we have gone from 1 on Friday lunchtime to about 250 by Sunday lunchtime).  Send me a message and somehow we will figure out how to add you.

Okay, Tuesday we have a glorious New Moon in Aries, whoot!!! The Aries New Moon is typically one of the best for manifesting, setting intentions, and planting seeds. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and New Moons signal the start of a new lunar cycle, so there is strong energy for new beginnings and fresh starts.  Plus the fact that we have Saturn moving into Aquarius, wowzer! All of this energy is already sending intense waves out into the cosmos and the New Moon will heighten all of this, plus bring a little of its own energy too.

As Forever Conscious shares:  “Under all of this fiery Aries energy, we may feel wound up or extra emotional if we don’t give ourselves a healthy outlet to express it.  Be mindful of allowing your emotions to boil over and try to act from a place of calm and ease. Take your time, think things through, and don’t be impulsive.

Interestingly, this New Moon falls at 4 degrees of Aries, which has been a trend. Back in February, the New Moon was at 4 degrees Pisces, in January the New Moon was at 4 degrees of Aquarius, in December, the New Moon Eclipse was at 4 degrees of Capricorn. In 2020, we are also in a number 4 year according to numerology.

In a number 4 year, we are called to return to the self and to find ways to create safety, comfort, and purpose from within.

4 represents feeling at home within ourselves, and it definitely seems this is a trend for many of us right now.

In astrology, 4 degrees of Aries is actually a very spiritually sensitive degree of the zodiac. It indicates advanced psychic energies and the ability to ascend to higher realms while remaining grounded.

At this time we can all deepen our connection with Spirit and use it as a tool to connect with who we are and what we can do to feel more at home within ourselves.

The Aries New Moon is always a wonderful time to set intentions for the year ahead but rather than telling Spirit and the Universe what you want, why not instead, open your heart to receive what Spirit and the Universe want from you?”

How can you become a vessel for Spirit? How can you allow Spirit to take the lead in your life and show you the way forward?

Sometimes one of the most powerful intentions we can set is to surrender to the Divine, Source, the Universe, or whatever we want to call it, and just allow it to show us the way to the perfect new beginnings for our soul.

What glorious energy to shine some light through the veil of fear that is pervading everything.  This is where I highly, highly, highly suggest you give yourself some time and do the New Moon Bowl Ritual.  It’s easy, it’s free and it’s powerful as it takes your intentions and puts actions to them.

When I went to the cards to ask who wanted to guide this week I was so thrilled to see it was the Earth Warrior Oracle, as now more than ever we need to become Warriors of Light, Love and Laughter.  Now if these guides are new to you please let me introduce them as it would be rude not to!  There is a river flowing now very fast.  It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.  They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are torn apart and will suffer greatly.  Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above water.  And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.  The time for the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word “struggle” from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

Oh my gosh I am smiling so much now as they are positively perfect for this moment in time.  And then interestingly enough they insisted on 4 cards for this week!

The crystals that wiggled and jiggled and bounced up and down to join in and support are:- Morganite –  cleanses the emotional body of stress and anxiety, old wounds and hidden traumas, and enkindles lightness within the spirit, as if a burden has been lifted and released.   K2 – enhances one’s discernment, a stone of deep insight. Clear Quartz – is known as the stone of power and amplifies any energy or intention.   Rhodonite – a glorious stone of forgiveness and one of the most powerful heart chakra stones.    The glorious little flowers that came to join, I have no clue what they are. They grow on a tree near me and smell divine!

Woosah, let’s settle in shall we?  Breathe, gorgeous one, deep into your belly and let it expand all the corners.  See your roots going down into the earth and connecting with the Divine Mumma and pulling glorious healing energy up through your roots and letting it dance through your body.  There is a gorgeous guided visualisation to help you ground, connect with the Divine and breathe if you feel inclined.

Shall we go see?

LINA

What Must Be, Shall Be

You have beautiful dreams and inspired, bold ambitions.  You are guided to believe that they are a natural expression of your soul, something that is meant to be.  Life will support you in the expression of those dreams and ambitions, even in the moments where it seems to be struggle rather than support, that you are experiencing.  The process for transformation into full maturity involves learning how to grow through light and through darkness back to the light again. You will always find your way back to the light.  Have faith in yourself and what must be. Dedicate yourself to what you love without hesitation.

If you are experiencing loss or change, have faith.  Sometimes things happen that seem to working against us.  It is only later that they show themselves to have been valuable ways by which we acquired the greater faith, courage and determination that were necessary to the fulfilment of our purpose.

Know that your destiny is unfolding, and you are moving through circumstances that are ultimately going to help you become your soul in fullness and splendour.  Keep going. Everything happening in your life is helping you to fulfil your divine potential.

Sometimes this can be confronting.  To give up old ways or old identities can seem frightening to the mind.  Yet it is inspiring and exciting for the soul that yearns to blossom into fullness and cannot thrive when it is held back in fear.

If you are a visionary with ideas that are not yet widely understood, but will help push humanity towards the new world, you may struggle more than most.  In this cse, you are asked to take leaps of faith and endure the endings inherent in evolution whilst waiting for the signs of new life.

Know that any darkness will give way to the light.

CHAKANA

Time to Cross the Threshold

Threshold appears, bringing an ending so complete that it is no longer possible to return to what has been.  The light of the star is your faithful guide into this new world. S you trust in your divine connection, deconstructed forms shall reshape themselves into relevant, helpful and beautiful new ways of living, thriving and expressing your true self.

Trust in your strangest ideas, in that which is different, inspired or unconventional.  This crossing is healing and futhers the activation of your divine potential.

Change is afoot.  You won’t feel in control of the process.  Trust in what is new, different or exciting to you.  Don’t assume that unless all things happen easily, then you must be on the wrong path.  You are on the correct path, even if the birthing pains to fulfil it are challenging. You are guided to reject societal norms about how you are supposed to live or what sort of things you are supposed to value.

Instead, trust your own values and believe in the truths that you feel within your own heart.  In time the world will be ready to recognise and benefit from your spiritual growth. The Universe is helping you in all ways, including through correct timing.  At the right moment, you will leave the past behind you and enter into the fullness of the present moment, opening up to the brightness of a new future.

IXCHEL

Medicine of the Rainbow Jaguar

Ixchel protects you now, as you transition from one life phase to the next.  With her rainbow light, this guardian goddess instructs you on how to use great power with wisdom, to nourish only what is worthy.  Using Jaguar medicine, with perfect timing, she confronts that which is unworthy of her devotion, eradicating destructive forces and creating space for healing relief and rebirth.  Her presence is the wild power of the jaguar, the renewal promise of the rainbow and divine feminine creativity. All darkness shall be overcome.

You are going through a transition.  Cultivate hope and stay true to your intentions.  Let nothing divert you from your true path. If you have a new project, vision or lifestyle that you are seeking to bring into the world, Ixchel is guiding and guarding you for a healthy birth.

It is important that you cut off negative sources completely at this time and do not allow yourself to be used or exploited.  This is not the time to indulge someone else’s ego or go against your own inner knowing in order to give someone the benefit of the doubt.  Trust your instincts and break immediately from what isn’t right for you. This will bring you new opportunities and situations that are worthy of your passionate devotion.

CH’ASKA

Star of Venus

Ch’aska, Star of Venus, supports an inner shift to higher consciousness.  Whether or not you consider yourself to be financially skilful, part of your sacred power and purpose includes the healing of economic and financial matters in your own life and the world.  You are meant to experience abundance, creating and sharing prosperity from a place of inner spiritual security. A healing liberation from poverty consciousness allows the Universe to work through you more easily without the obstruction of negative conditioning.

You are being guided to give up false shame of not having enough, or guilt for having too much.  Your true worth is a matter of soul and has nothing to do with material things. As you relax and acknowledge the love that the Universe has for you, your material reality will unfold with grace and divine support.

Financial healing is indicated.  Let go of fear and trust unconditionally that the Universe is supporting you.  What brings you a sense of joy, purpose and passionate devotion? Focus on that.  Believe in your ability to thrive by being and expressing your authentic self. Notice how you relax into flow and more easily attract what you need when you acknowledge that the Universe wants you to flourish through being you.  Focus on putting your beautiful beliefs out into the world, not in consuming the negativity or fear of others. Give of your spirit abundantly!

Oh my gosh!  You seriously can’t make this stuff up – what glorious cards for this week ahead!  So my delicious lovely, I wish for you a week of health, light, healing and calm. May you and your family/friends be well and be blessed.  In the words of Brene Brown – This pandemic experience is a massive experiment in collective vulnerability. We can be our worst selves when we’re afraid, or our very best, bravest selves. In the context of fear and vulnerability, there is often very little in between because when we are uncertain and afraid our default is self-protection. We don’t have to be scary when we’re scared. Let’s choose awkward, brave, and kind. And let’s choose each other.

I choose you.

Big Hugs and Squeezes,

Yule time is here and welcome to B.O.W.S!

Jenny Heston · 1:01 am ·

Has it occurred to you that this is the last Yule time (Northern Hemisphere) or Litha time (Southern Hemisphere) of this decade!!  Wowzers!  Let alone the fact that we are entering Eclipse time, but that’s for another day.

I love Winter Solstice and I can feel the energy of it for a few weeks before it even arrives. It’s dark far earlier, much colder outside and there is a desire to cocoon, wear warmer clothes and eat soup (at least for me).  There is a sensation of reflection, going inwards and questioning that arrives naturally from this energy. To me this is a time where I notice those “meh” moments more and really examine my life and ask the question “Am I showing up and embodying what I am called to do?” That’s why, to me, I feel it vital to take some time out to honour this energy and work with it which in turn allows me to feel aligned.  In fact I feel more balanced, connected and inspired after I have taken some time.

As a kid I used to be scared of the dark, I felt it held things that were terrifying and uncomfortable.  As an adult I have learned that’s not true and have become willing to walk into the darkness and allow myself to get comfortably uncomfortable and dig deep, explore the mysteries and embrace all aspects of being human.  Light and dark.  You can’t have one without the other!  Winter Solstice invites us with a safe open hand to step into the place of mystery, the warm comforting dark that wraps around us like a cosy blankie.  Whispering in our ear – rest, be, embrace, release, create, imagine, grow ……….

So what is Winter Solstice and why celebrate it?  Why take the time to honour it? The Pagan celebration of Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world.  Winter Solstice takes place on the day where the night is the longest and the hours of sun or daylight are the shortest. In fact “Solstice” comes from two Latin words: sol meaning “sun” and sistere meaning “to stand still” because it appeared as though the sun and moon had stopped moving across the sky. This longest night of the year, followed by a renewal of the sun, demonstrates the cyclical order of the cosmos. In this way, celebrating the solstice can be a beautiful remembrance that our lives are part of a larger order, always changing, always renewing.  It’s a gorgeous invitation to not be afraid of the dark or the shadow, as it is in that place is where we shift, grow and recharge.

Winter Solstice has been celebrated in various forms and for thousands of years across a myriad of cultures, all who are willing to step into the darkness and wait to welcome back the light. (And if you lived in medieval times that’s pretty ballsy!) So as I promised gorgeous one, my gift to you for this Yule time is B.O.W.S

I have been so thrilled to create this wonderful package, packed with information, rituals, intentions, magick and a glorious guided visualisation, just for you.  You would have received the password for it in your email.

For my glorious ones in the South, I haven’t forgotten, let me introduce you to B.O.S.S. (Your Book of Summer Solstice).  Again, packed with rituals, intentions, magick and a glorious guided visualisation.

Whether you are North or South wishing you a Blessed Solstice.  So Be It.

Pink, pretty, agreeable, easy to look at and easy to manage. Somewhere we started believing that was feminine energy.

That’s femininity with the wild bred out of it.

The real thing looks more like nature than a doll.

Seasons. Storms. Tides that don’t ask permission. Soft and completely untamable at once. I spent years being the polished version. The wild one was always underneath.
