Hunter's Moon

Gather the Good. Lay Down the Heavy.

The Hunter’s Full Moon in Taurus

Gorgeous Soul, have you noticed how autumn holds abundance and endings in the same outstretched hand?

There are apples to gather, soup pots bubbling and leaves showing off their glorious colours. Meanwhile, the garden is beginning to fold into itself. Stems soften, petals fall, and what flourished a few weeks ago is returning to the soil.

I find something deeply reassuring in that. Nature gives so generously, then allows herself to change pace. Looking around my garden, I’m reminded how much effort we put into keeping ourselves endlessly productive, even when every leaf beneath our feet is suggesting another way.

As the Hunter’s Full Moon approaches on October 25, we’re invited to recognise the harvest of our own lives and consider what will sustain us through the darker months.

October’s invitation to gather, release and unfurl continues.

Gathering the goodness

Some of the year’s gifts are easy to recognise. Food on the table. A warm home. The company of someone who makes us laugh until we snort.

Others reveal themselves more quietly. The courage to speak honestly. A friendship that deepened. The discovery that we could ask for help and someone would show up.

Our harvest includes the wisdom we’ve gathered through living—the boundaries we’ve learned to honour, the support we’ve allowed ourselves to receive, and the small pleasures that have kept us company when things were rather frigging hard.

We can appreciate that growth while acknowledging what it cost us. Gratitude has room for complicated feelings.

The Hunter’s Moon offers a seasonal image of gathering and preparation. As the nights lengthen, we can draw closer to the people, practices and everyday comforts that nourish us.

The earthy wisdom of enough

In astrology, Taurus is associated with the earth, the senses, steadiness and what we value. Its symbolism draws our attention towards the tangible things that help us feel supported.

The warmth of a mug in your hands. Clean sheets. Something nourishing simmering on the stove. A walk that brings you back into conversation with your body.

These moments can slip past us when we’re chasing the next task or wondering what else we should be doing.

And oh my giddy aunt, that word should can eat an entire afternoon.

There is something quietly powerful about recognising when we have done enough for the day. Putting the work down. Eating while the food is still warm. Allowing ourselves to enjoy the evening we are actually living.

For some of us, material security is a real and pressing concern. We can acknowledge what is missing while recognising the nourishment and support that are available. Both deserve our attention.

When the garden begins to wither

Alongside the harvest comes the withering. Leaves curl at their edges. The garden grows untidy. What falls feeds the soil and shelters small lives through winter.

There is so much happening beneath what looks like an ending.

Yet we can be extraordinarily hard on ourselves when something in our own lives reaches completion. We keep trying to revive an exhausted role, meet an expectation that no longer fits, or hold together an arrangement that leaves us depleted.

Autumn gives us another way to understand these changes. There are seasons for growth and seasons for drawing our energy closer. Endings can carry grief, relief and uncertainty together.

Our October card, Unfurl the Wings of Forgiveness, offers accountability and compassion as companions here. Accountability helps us recognise what needs changing and take the steps that belong to us. Compassion allows us to acknowledge how we got here without making ourselves suffer for it indefinitely.

We can make a repair, choose differently and let that choice take root over time.

Your body belongs in the balance

As the season turns inward, the body’s quieter requests deserve attention.

Tiredness. Hunger. A longing for company or a little less noise. The relief that arrives when a commitment is lifted.

We can become so skilled at accommodating others that we stop noticing how much room we’ve given away. Rest gets pushed to the end of an ever-growing list, somewhere after everyone else is comfortable and the entire house is sorted.

You belong in the balance, Gorgeous Soul.

Your time, comfort and peace deserve consideration. A boundary can make room for a proper meal, a slower morning, a nourishing conversation or an evening with nothing to prove.

These ordinary acts of care help us meet the coming season with something left in the tank.

The longer story

With Samhain drawing closer, remembrance becomes part of the landscape.

The Moon above us has shone over so many lives: people gathering food, tending fires, loving one another, enduring uncertainty and finding their way through changing seasons.

Their stories reach us through recipes, songs, familiar gestures and ways of seeing the world. Some bring warmth. Others carry pain or expectations we are learning to question.

We can approach that inheritance with discernment. There is room to honour what nourishes us, grieve what was missing and choose what we wish to carry forward.

Connection may also live through chosen family, the land beneath our feet and people whose kindness helped shape our lives. We belong to a wider web than we can always see.

As the evenings deepen, tending the hearth can become a small expression of that belonging. Making something nourishing. Calling someone we love. Creating a place where we can settle and feel welcome.

A little Hunter’s Moon magick

Preserving what matters takes care. Relationships need attention, memories need space, and the practices that sustain us need a place in our days.

I’ve created journal prompts for a deeper exploration of this Moon’s themes.

There is also a simple preservation ritual to honour what has nourished you and mark what you choose to tend through the darker months.

Make yourself a delicious cuppa and give yourself a little breathing room.

May your harvest include the wisdom you’ve earned and the joy you nearly overlooked. May your home offer warmth, and your boundaries give you room to rest.

Gather the good, Gorgeous Soul. Lay down a little of the heavy. There is another season waiting to meet you.

Mandala Hunter’s Moon Ritual

Mandala Hunter’s Moon Ritual

In honour of the Autumn trees that are showing us how to let things go (by losing their leaves) that is what we are going to be doing.

Gather together the following:-

  • Your moon journal and your favourite pen
  • A candle
  • I’m Allowing song
  • A collection of leaves, acorns, pinecones, flowers etc.

Once you have all your things together, find a space where you can spend some time without being interrupted or distracted.

The most important thing you need to know about the power of the full moon ritual is that it utilises four essential elements of any transformative spiritual practice: willpower, intention, symbolism, and ritual.

Grab your moon journal and ask yourself the following questions:

Full Hunter Moon Journal Prompts

  • What do you know about your ancestors, heritage, and family tree? What would you like to learn more about?
  • Create a mini bucket list and include how you’d like to celebrate October, Samhain, and Halloween.
  • What lessons do you think your ancestors would want you to have learned?
  • What were some “seeds” that you planted this last Spring and Summer? How did you help them to grow over the last few months? Are you able to reap the rewards of what you have sewn? What could you have done differently? How can you do better next year?
  • Imagine you’re in the last stages of your life. What memories do you hope to have? What values and stories do you hope are told about you when you’re gone?

Now is the time to create your release mandala.

The mandala can be made out of leaves, sticks, pine cones, acorns, whatever you can find.  And making a mandala as a collective (involving friends or family) can open up a lovely space to talk on a deeper level.

I personally love to make my mandala outdoors, either in the garden, a park, at the beach as this allows it to be blown away on the breeze or washed away by the waves.

Let’s begin.

Light your candle and pop on the Allowing song (I highly suggest looping it).

Start placing your leaves in a design that resonate for you.  As you put each leaf down, offer up what you are releasing.  It could be “I am releasing anxiety”, “I am releasing feeling disconnected to my higher self”.

Make your mandala with intention and awareness.

When your mandala is complete take a moment to check in with how you are feeling physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.  Note this down in your moon journal.

Then offer up a blessing and a prayer of gratitude that your mandala will be received as a gift by the earth and your releases will dance on the breeze and become cosmic compost.

Blow your candle out and take a nice sip of tea.

Happy Full Moon.

A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotla A wee message to patriarchy, with love from Scotland. 🖕😂

We’re done with power over people, power over women, power over the planet. We’re here for matriarchal ways rooted in care, respect, shared power and community. And we’re a wee bit tired of being told how to behave, how to look and how to be women in this world!! So here’s our sisterly response… with love, laughter and a little Scottish sass! 😉

A wee note: We’re a group of Canadian sisters and one beautiful U.S. sister exploring Scotland together. Some of us have Scottish roots, and all of us brought a little wyld spirit! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. The trees are loosening their grip, Gorgeous Soul. What are you ready to release? 🍂

Sitting in a glorious pile of leaves, I pulled October’s card: Unfurl the Wings of Forgiveness.

Accountability and compassion. The courage to own your part, the tenderness to forgive yourself, and boundaries that honour both.

There’s autumn magick in this invitation—and a little delicious mischief, too.

It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The It’s easy to think of yourself as a good man. The harder question is: who are you when it’s just you and the boys?

When the joke crosses the line.
When the group chat turns ugly.
When a woman is being degraded.
When you know something is wrong.

Do you speak up, even if it costs you your place in the group?

Because women cannot be in every room asking men to respect us.

Men have to demand it from each other.

So I’m asking men: when was the last time you called out another man?

Don’t just teach your sons not to hurt women. Teach them not to stand silently beside men who do.
Summer is letting go. 🍂 Can you feel it? The lig Summer is letting go. 🍂

Can you feel it?

The light has changed. The evenings are arriving earlier. Leaves are turning, birds are gathering and Nature is beginning that slow, delicious turn inward.

Then on September 26th comes the Harvest Full Moon. 🌕

And maybe she’s not asking:

What’s next?

Maybe she’s asking:

What is already ripe?

What has quietly grown in you this season?

What are you ready to gather?

And what might you finally be ready to let fall?

I’ve written a new Harvest Moon piece through my Seasonal Lens, with journal prompts and one of my favourite slightly ridiculous rituals.

It involves bubbles.

Of course it bloody does. 😂🫧

🍂 Tomorrow, the Wheel turns. For one delicious mo 🍂 Tomorrow, the Wheel turns.

For one delicious moment, we stand at the threshold between seasons.

Before rushing into autumn, what if you stopped long enough to look back?

At the summer you actually lived.
At what surprised you.
What challenged you.
What delighted you.
What quietly grew while you were busy doing other things.

You don’t need a perfect harvest.

You only need to recognise what is already in your hands.

🍂 What grew in you while you were busy living? Th 🍂 What grew in you while you were busy living?

That’s the question sitting at the heart of Mabon: The Gathering.

Not what did you accomplish?

Not did summer go according to plan?

But what grew?

A boundary?
A truth?
Some courage?
A delicious bit of weirdness?
Maybe something you didn’t even realise was a harvest until now.

I created a 24-page Mabon journey filled with reflection, journalling, ritual, harvest magick and a five-card Tarot/Oracle spread.

Because before we charge into the next season…

perhaps we should notice who arrived here. 🍎

Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I to Today is exactly one week before my birthday, I took a leap and received a “channelled” tattoo.

Was I sceptical? Abso-frigging-lutely. I wouldn’t even see the design until two hours before my appointment.

Then the image arrived—and I fell completely in love.

An apple, lavender, chamomile, rosemary, hare’s-foot fern and glorious Amanita mushrooms, all woven together beneath the stars and the sweep of the Milky Way.

Every piece holds meaning. Together, they form a tiny wild universe—a botanical talisman of nature, healing, memory, resilience, cosmic wonder and a wee bit of Fae mischief.

And now it rests above my heart, exactly where it belongs.

@inkspired_.tattoo.studio , you are an extraordinary human. This was so much more than a tattoo—it was a soulful, intentional experience and the perfect birthday gift.

A little wild.
A little witchy.
A little cosmic.
A little Fae.
And entirely me. 🍎🌿🍄✨
